Popular Post Jonathan Fairfield
BANGKOK (NNT) - The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended that the Thai government tighten existing measures to control the COVID-19 outbreak, similar to the initial response to last year’s first wave. Dr Richard Brown, Health Emergencies program manager of the WHO’s Thailand office, said the main reason for Thailand’s problems was the emergence of the new variants. He explained that, although the new variants are more infectious, the modes of transmission have not changed, so existing protocols should be tightened to control its spread. There is a big responsibility on the public to apply at least the basic measures to stop infections. If everyone can do this, it can break the chain of transmission, he said. Meanwhile, National Vaccine Institute Director Dr Nakorn Premsri admitted that the first-wave measures went well thanks to cooperation from various sectors, particularly the government and the public, adding that, no matter how good the measures are, without the backing of the public Thailand may face an even more serious level of contagion, as has happened in other countries. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-07-24 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 3 1

Yes, that is what the lockdown fanatics want, we have to hurt everyone as much as possible to show our virtue in fighting covid. Never mind that lockdowns have not been proven to lead to better outcomes. Look at what is happening in Australia right now, at this rate they will stay locked down and closed for the next 5 years. 9 2 1 5

I was responding to the fact that if it was like last years closure more would be closed. Construction sites are working with full capacities of workers, last year they were shut.

Popular Post sqwakvfr
Ah, no pun intended but “first wave measures went well”? Says WHO. I am having doubts about 2020 numbers in Thailand. “More tests, more cases”. “Fewer tests, fewer cases”. How difficult was it to get a Covid 19 test in 2020 compared to now? Most of the hospitals and even some smaller clinics offers PCR tests(I am in CNX) and making an appointment was not difficult and I could pick the date and time. Even Chiang Mai Ram said I could just walk in and if I test before 1200 the results could come back by evening. Back in 2020 this was not the case.

Popular Post sucit
It’s amazing the best run societies on earth all run on the fact that businesses and people have freedom to make their own decisions. And the system runs very efficiently. Yet, during covid, all the sudden, the people can’t decide how to best go about things. Amazing! And all the sudden, government is the most efficient entity on earth. What on earth has government ever run well or efficiently? Letting people free to protect themselves is the only sane answer. 4 1 6

Despite a full court press by the news, gov'ts and social media people know that covid is not an automatic death sentence. If this was like ebola, trust me people would lock themselves down, you would not need the 24 hour media driven fear porn. 6 2

I have to go along with your comments when i witness individuals who are somewhat paranoid about there health . Main point here in Thailand is to be careful where you go with some limitations .

That's easy to say when you've already made your nugget (or not) and you're living on a pension or investment income or a government salary. Meanwhile, millions of Thai people (many barely above the poverty level in good times) aren't allowed to make a living- to keep you on the safe side. For many, their entire economic future has been derailed in an experiment. It'll take years to determine whether locking down was successful in any but the short term. And more years to make up for the income lost during this experiment. 7 1 1
