On the paper I received from the hospital that adminstered my AZ jab it shows a description of the vaccine as 'Covid-19 Vaccine (Astrazeneca)U119.

Anyone know what the 'U119' means, please.

Thank you

serial number for production batch.

I think in thailand there is letter A at the beginning.

They did also import some 500k from korea sometimes in June. It well might be from korea. Probably a better quality one, than those made by siam biosciense

It just means you where given Astrazenic vaccine against Covid 19. If a complication or side effect occurs in connection with the vaccination it would be U129.

It's a standardised code under International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD).

Many thanks for the info.

not so. There were issues with different countries (for example india ones are not accepted for crossing some borders) and with particular batches (several of them stopped and investigated from an italian factory).

That's why each batch is checked by authorities for quality, before being stamped

I have both a lot and serial number on my paperwork and record online in Mor Prom on my first jab of AstraZeneca.

My lot is CTMAV556B and serial number B00000000056814.

I assume these are records in case something goes wrong. Then they can tell what lot your vaccine came from and warn you if necessary.

That's the most detailed and useful info on source of AZ vaccine I've seen, and confirms my first vaccination. here in Malaysia was from Korea. Just got my second yesterday with Batch No D004A (strangely short reference), but cannot find anything about where it came from - searches all throw up info on the Indian batch numbers which were rejected by EU.

Anyone have any ideas?

By the way big shout out to Malaysia for vaccinating foreigners for free at same time as locals! Grass - greener - etc.

Very impressive @Salerno.

Now your bonus for 10: what was the name of the monkey?

Meanwhile I was researching whether the GTIN (Global Trade Identification Number) would tell me that info. It should do, but it seems not to: the 13 digit (why not 14 digit?) code returns only the UK address information and nothing else (https://gepir.gs1.org/index.php/search-by-gtin).

I assume this too. AstraZeneca still has responsibility to maintain quality. Siam Bioscience was given the license to make it on behalf of AZ. In Europe it is also made by various companies.

On what evidence do you base this assertion?  Mindless anti-Thai bahing, perhaps?

on evidence, that siam biosciense never made a vaccine before. They have just made their first one in May.

They are falling behind schedule and are under great political pressure to speed up production.

Hence they well might cut corners, release substandard production to safe their face and reputation.

To safe dramatic situation in June some 500 000 were secretly imported from Korea, as some journalist allege.

Still, they were below 6mln planned and many vax appointments were cancelled.

On the other hand, the UK, japan, korea, italy and many other were able to start their production at the end of the last year. The difference - being done by experienced pharmaceutical companies, which had all the equipment and skills.

Still, italian production had several faulty batches which caused side effects. Several countries temporary withhold distribution. Two countries dropped it from their program.

To the point, that the AZ had to re-brand it's vax giving it a new trade name.

The indian made AZ is not accepted for applying for entry to the UK. The same fear is for thai made AZ.

No, I just hate thai ruling class, nothing to do with thai bashing
