Both of these were in Bangkok.........

A friend got hold of one of the Home Test kits and it said "Positive". She exhibited no symptoms whatsoever. She went to a hospital to arrange for a PCR test to confirm. They took the samples, gave her favipiravir and paracetamol, and told her to quarantine at home for three days while awaiting test results.

Three days later her PCR came back 'negative'. Apparently the home tests do run about 5% false positives.

She never took any of the drugs, fearing side effects

Had a chat with an young, fit foreign acquaintance two days ago where he told me he had just spent a few weeks in the hospital with Covid. His only symptoms were intense pain in his legs from Deep Vein Thrombosis and blood clots. He was given lots of blood thinners along with favipiravir and paracetamol, plus almost daily PCR tests. After a time he was declared cured and sent home. He has developed liver problems and Hep A, but isn't sure if that is Covid related or a side effect of the anti-viral and paracetamol (or dirty hospital food).

Vaccine reduces risk of infection even in people who’ve already had Covid, the C.D.C. says

By Roni Caryn Rabin

Aug. 6, 2021

Unvaccinated people who have had Covid-19 may be more than twice as likely to get infected again than those who tested positive and bolstered their natural immunity with a vaccine, according to a small study that assessed the likelihood of reinfection.

The study, published on Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, examined the risk of reinfection during May and June among hundreds of Kentucky residents who tested positive for the virus in 2020.

Those who did not get vaccinated this year faced a risk of reinfection that was 2.34 higher than those who did get their shots. Released on Friday, the study suggests that for those who had overcome an infection, the addition of a vaccine offered better protection than the natural immunity generated by their original bout with the virus alone...

It could also be the case that these reinfected people were just as careless the 2nd time as the 1st.

News Story on Channel 34 right now about a pregnant lady who was 6 months pregnant being vaccinated and then her healthy fetus dying invitro.  She was apparently vaccinated with her first jab of AZ in the last day.  Heartbreaking.

Looking at Chonburi's cases it appears they are rising again, as well as the deaths.  My condolences to those that have lost a family member or friend.

As a Pattaya resident, I see the results as promising. Note Pattaya/Banglamung is  close to half the number of cases in the other 2 population areas listed.

The mind boggles to why they are not targeting the elderly before giving anyone else vaccinations if "74% of those who died were older than 60 years old"

And even now some idiots are talking about vaccinating children

Is there a breakdown in nationality of the foreigners that have perished?

Agree.

Also note that only ~17% of population is 60+. Clearly the 60+ group should be #1 priority.

Median age often ~ 67 which means half the daily deaths are over 67ish.

Yesterday 207 Thais, 2 Myanmars, 2 Chineses, and one Indian aged between 31-97.

We usually get a daily count of those that perished by nationaility later in the day.

That's even better news. If the reported infections are clumped together in construction sites, the infections in the general community are fewer.

No, that is not a word I would use in that context......  simply the weekend testing effect.....

Possibly similar to the UK where numbers often appeared to drop over weekends due to less reporting over weekends?

Is that what you mean?

Well only a few days prior it was higher than both Sri Racha and Mueng Chonburi. It is up and down, likely depending on clusters being found.

Yes.... the word 'artifact' is not familiar to me in that context.
