webfact
File photo: REUTERS Thailand on Wednesday (August 11) reported 21,038 new COVID-19 cases and 207 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. ● 20,865 new infections ● 173 prison / prison infections ● 22,012 recoveries Wednesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 816,989 with 6,795 deaths. (Total infections since April 1: 788,126) The news comes as the Delta variant now accounts for 95.4% of new COVID-19 infections in Bangkok and has spread to 76 out of Thailand’s 77 provinces, said Director-General of Medical Sciences Department Dr. Supakit Sirilak. He cited random tests on 1,632 new COVID-19 cases across the country, which show that 91.9% of them, or 1,499 cases, are of the Delta variant, which was first identified in India, and has now become the dominant strain in many parts of the world. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-08-11 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 3

Popular Post Bkk Brian
Nearly 130,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine have been administered From February 28 to August 9, Thailand administered more than 21 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, with 10.26 million being Sinovac, 9.23 million AstraZeneca, 1.54 million Sinopharm and 129,834 Pfizer, which were recently donated by the United States, the Department of Disease Control (DDC) revealed on Tuesday. “The DDC insists that all medical professionals who fit the criteria will receive Pfizer as a booster shot. The allotment and delivery of the vaccine are all documented and verifiable,” he said. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40004499 3
Popular Post ThailandRyan
21k new cases does indicate to me at least, that the lower cases the past few days were testing related. Additionally, my view on those recoveries listed, are that they are not just those recovered but those who have also been released to go home with medication to finish of the healing of the disease infection, and that they now only have minor symptoms left that can be self treated. This release of those sent home to isolate will make room for those needing beds and shows just how many beds are needed for more serious cases. Of course this is my view and might not be others. I hope that the vaccine program picks up with the newest promised donation of 2.5 million doses of Pfizer from the US as well. I have not seen any data indicating the AZ doses from SB in the last week or so, only a story about doctors asking that the dispensing of that vaccine to other countries be ceased as they fear many more cases to come in the next few months. Do they know something we do not? Waiting also to see if the upward trend we saw in BKK yesterday continues upward, or if it was as one posters likes to say, an Artifact. I hope that those who have tested positive with the ATK rapid tests at home or at a facility are getting the treatment the government promised. Seems that there are many of these folks just here in BKK. Edited August 11, 2021 by ThailandRyan 13
Popular Post dinsdale
Obviously we hit the peak in last couple of days. According to some anyway. 591 fatalities in 3 days and >20k or just below infections everyday. 7 weeks until October. Peak obviously not reached. One poster yesterday said it's all looking good to open up Thailand for the high season. 1'000s dying every month. 100s of 1000s of infections for this month. Popular Post Danderman123
I suspect we will never know how many Antigen tests are performed at home, and never reported. Now for some spitballing: I suspect that the virus can infect people at levels too low for PCR detection, but high enough to provoke an antibody reaction. Which is why waves mysteriously flatten out.

Agree. But the thing about fudging numbers that are so high even when you do manipulate them numbers are still going to be high. The 3000 from Phetchabun never did show up. How many other clusters have not found their way into the 'official' numbers yet the numbers remain high. Just not as high as they should be.

No issues as the part you quoted you answered without changing the context as others would, so I have no problems. Yes I agree with you that they must have more information than we do, and now with the media gag being lifted maybe we will see more on this. I also find it refreshing to see that no matter how hard they have been trying to hide things that those confidential memos are finding the light of day. Must be giving them fits as they search for the do-gooders they must think are being subversive. To me it speaks to transparency which this government has been far from. Wondering when the true nature of what they call "Recoveries" will be made known. 5

ThailandRyan
On a separate note, we will be headed out to have another Covid PCR test completed at a drive thru which has been set up by a hospital. This is a requirement now due to the GF having to have a procedure completed, and the doctor previously exposed by another patient last month, thus making the doctor self isolate and cancel appointments for 3 weeks until he was cleared. Now they want to ensure those folks who he is seeing are negative. It is not, as we know from how people are shown to be negative and then 3 days later to be positive, fool proof but at least they are being proactive to ensure safety for the staff and doctor. The total number of vaccines sent to Phuket represent less than 1 day's vaccinations in Thailand. For whatever reason, you're happy that there are less foreigners in Thailand than normal. Not as much competition at your local bar, eh? 2 2

Symptoms completely resolved ? Very good question. An acquaintance (late 30s, male, quite fit, no underlying maladies or issues) spent a few weeks in a hospital, suffering mostly blood clots due to Covid. After a negative PCR test he was declared 'recovered' and sent out. He has ongoing balance issues, extreme leg pain, some mental fog, and liver damage (either from the virus or drugs administered to treat it.). Currently being treated for Hep A. Recovery seems to be a path, not a destination. A cynic might also say (based on rumors I have heard from the medical community), it means "Some hi-so family offered us big money for your hospital bed, so time for you to go".

No bars where I live that I would go to 3. I care about the death of old (venerable) Thais who should have been vaccinated instead some young healthy person. I think old people are no less valuable than young, in most cases they are more valuable. 9

Thailands main issue as I see it , is that their main target Market of the Chinese now have their own issues with a Delta Outbreak that the Authorities are finding hard to control. All travel from China will cease for sure. I think we can all predict the outcome of any Major opening plans for Tourists in October.
