The Village I am familiar with up in Isaan have seen no imports from BKK or anywhere else and the daily infected numbers drop. Many are also already double jabbed. Obviously this may or may not be typical of other villages up far North. Edited August 18, 2021 by Kadilo

Current calcs predict that at this rate 70% of Thais will be double dosed within 6 months. At the current rate of vaccinations, they won't reach 100 million doses until after March 2022 -- that's assuming the current rates continue into the future. For the past month, the government did less than 10 million total doses, getting them to about 23 million total doses as of now (excluding the nearly 500,000 third dose do-over shots thus far for medical staff, which don't increase the public vaccination rate). At the current pace, they'll be under 30 million doses by the end of August. And then if you figure 10 million doses a month moving forward into the future, they'd be at about 70 million doses by year end -- thus failing to meet their stated year-end goal of 100 million doses. And then another three months at 10 million doses a month to get to 100 million doses by the end of March 2022. Of course, the vaccinations rate COULD increase in the months ahead, or it COULD decrease. So the only thing to project on right now is what's their current rate of vaccinations. And meanwhile, the original whole 70% herd immunity notion that the government's goal was based on has gone out the window as a result of the Delta variant, with the latest predictions saying an 85% or higher vaccination rate might be necessary to stop the spread. https://www.facebook.com/informationcovid19/posts/387338812884449

By October at least 80% of the people in Samui should be fully vaccinated, this should be enough to fully reopen without quarantine. Yea I'm sure the Italian part owner will be thrilled if that happens, rubbing his hands in glee in fact. In the meantime Thailand and the locals are going through the worst time ever with hospitals turning patients away and people dying at home. This is where the focus of help should be for the government and giving some economic relief to them with decent cash handouts now. The vaccinations are going to take months yet before they can even begin to think about opening Thailand up.

They seem to be using a running 7 day average, where as my projection used a broader past month average. They also seem to be including in their count the medical booster doses of recent days, which really don't count toward increasing the public vaccination rate. If you backed out the medical staff booster doses, their most recent 7 day average would come down quite a bit. And the resulting projection date for a 70% fully vaccinated rate would extend out beyond their mid-Feb. guesstimate. Dogmatix
I went for a long time only knowing one person who had died of COVID. Sadly he was in London before the vaccine roll out. Now I am hearing of quite a few in Thailand, including one expat and a 12 year old girl who was an international school student. Also a friend's 37 year old daughter just died of it in Manila. It feels like it is gettting closer. Stay safe all. 1

Dogmatix
A friend in Pattaya just tried to book a vaccination through the Intervac website. He says there is a choice of vaccies, probably necessary to stop people stomping out of vaccination centres when offered SV. This is what he reported finding on the website: AZ + AZ = FULL SV + AZ = HALF FULL SV + SV = lots of spots available Pfizer doesn't seem to be on the menu despite the 150,000 doses supposedly reserved for foreigners. Given the lack of demand there seems to be no need to import the additional 12m SV doses, despite the obvious incentives, but perhaps it can be used for at risk farm animals, zoo animals that have not been eaten yet in the tourist drought and domesic pets. Medical Services Dept. and Nopparatrajathanee Hospital invite pregnant women who have been pregnant for 12 weeks and more to register for Pfizer vaccine inoculation through a QR code on Aug 20 at 8 a.m. The vaccination is scheduled on Aug 23 at the Mall Bangkapi. @TNAMCOT https://twitter.com/TNAMCOTEnglish/status/1427895205844307968

That 40%+ positive rate in the total tests done tells us a lot. COVID should be relatively hard to find, even during a large outbreak, that it's not suggests only one thing - it's far more widespread than they can ever detect. The positive rate should be well under 10% based on what I've been reading since this thing started - and that's coming from the UK where we know they had an out of control widespred epidemic - just like we're seeing here.
