But 'flu isn't always mild. According to ONC in UK over 50,000 Excess Winter Deaths occurred due to a new form of 'flu, which is more than Covid caused in the same period since its invention.

Yes, but personally I never worried about the flu. But this virus is scary...

I think he's right on some things.   Vaccinate and try and get on with life , we need normal asap and Thailand is killing itself with no plan of recovery.

That's probably what the 'owl <deleted>' thought back in 2018 /2019 (forgot the date in the previous post).

But did anyone else hear of it?

You want to know the future ?

Look at Philippines...

Record "cases"... but they open again.

Source : https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/philippines-duterte-relax-coronavirus-curbs-capital-region-2021-08-19/

Because they can't mimic anymore the madness of rich western countries.

We put on the side Reality since january 2020... Now Reality is coming back. With a vengeance.

Do you seriously believe that millions, dozen of millions of people (just for South East Asia) will continue to keep quiet... after loosing everything ? That we can continue with closures, the destruction of the economy ?

That's a wet dream for terrified old baby boomers in western countries.

Thailand is NOT a poor country. It is a country of inequality.  Similarly the Philippines....

The Philippines has remittances from the millions of overseas workers to prop up the "rural" economy. Unfortunately these remittances are also affected by covid restrictions in other countries.

It's why I think Australia and New Zealand with be locked down the longest, Covid is not going away they will need to bite the bullet sooner or later and open up

Yep, I can't help thinking they're just delaying the inevitable in Australia and NZ.

Their governments are behaving like those parents who won't let their kids play in the mud and who disinfect everything in sight.

I have a few friends in Oz and some are posting bizarre stuff on social media, sounding petrified because 1 Covid case has been found in an entire city. On the other hand I see a few who are fiercely anti-lockdown.

Only time will tell which (if any) countries got the tactics right, but I just don't think the 'zero Covid' approach can work.

Sweden was a disaster.  Compare it to its neighbours (not countries with big cities like UK) and you will find the truth.

Incidentally, I have a old school friend who lives in Stockholm - he is raging about the government incompetencies - quite the opposite reaction from what I expected from this guy

Flu experts estimate at least 5 to 20% of a population get the flu in a severe season.  lifestyle and interactions make estimates very considerably.  Since COVID vaccinated people are now fairly commonly being detected as having, or carrying and being able to transmit the COVID, well.. It will spread.  There are many dieseases out there that are spread and caught by many people that go under the radar unless one really digs.  What policies to implement and follow?  Well, no social distancing is being followed very well.  Here in the USA people go shopping and no longer stand 6 feet apart and many stores do not even have the markers on the floor any more, go to work, go to casinos.  Goodness, they have live streaming telecasts on the utube of poker games and people sitting elbow to elbow.  Sporting events are allowing fans, etc.  So the virus is likely to continue to be caught and transmitted.  I don't think there is anyway they will shut things down as they did before.  Many businesses and companies are mandating vaccinations.  many restaurants and pubs are being told they must only allow in vaccinated people.  While that sounds nice, but if the virus is able to be caught and transmitted by a vaccinated person, its usefulness in stopping a spread is suspect.

By the US via Faucci who was funding this sort of research in Wuhan!

Misinformation.

The subcontractor in Wuhan was specifically barred from enhancing bat viruses that were being studied.

more to the point, do you really think that, if China wanted to weaponize bat viruses, they would need money from the US?

Endemic, just like every other rhino and corona virus.

Nearly everyone survives, unless they have a weak immune system, or other diagnosed health issues.

Of course, about 90% of people have some sort of underlying health issue, so there is that.

I think it could be the vaccines that are juicing up the deadly variants, like the Delta that you mentioned, because as we can see, the number of different variants is significantly rising after the vaccines rolled out and is still able to infect not only unvaccinated people but also fully vaccinated people.

Juicing up eh.........love the technical jargon. The rest of your post also has no basis in science.

What is DFAT?

You can google DFAT - it should be your first listing.  Prefer to keep relatively anon in these forums.  Sometimes express myself too strongly ????

Thank you for that information. It's fascinating how people are just ignoring it because it doesn't fit the narrative. It seems that many need to believe that the vaccines will be the solution that brings us back to normal life. I suppose if you've taken the jab or even just fully committed to taking it, you're generally not open to any information that'll put your decision into question.

This is what happens when you spread this nonsense misinformation to the gullible and misinformed:

That's not what Faucci said!!

And it wasn't China that wanted to weaponize bat viruses, it was the country paying for the research!!

Sweden didn't ruin it's economy for 0.14% of it's population.

Ultimately, it's all down to the level of selfishness.

If one is well and healthy, I can understand this sentiment.

How would you feel if you (for example) had a young child who had been suffering from an illness all their life, but looked good to go for another 40 years at least.

Would you say, sorry son, you might not see your next birthday, but hey, the economy is good?
