Help has arrived! 150K doses of AstraZeneca reaches Bangkok from Bhutan

Sanook reported that 150,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine arrived from Bhutan at Suvarnabhumi airport yesterday lunchtime.

 

The vaccine will be checked by the Department of Medical Sciences over the next few days before being jabbed into the arms of the over 60s, people will seven underlying health conditions and pregnant women who have carried for 12 weeks. 

 

Dr Kiatphoom Wongjarit of the Ministry of Public Health confirmed the arrival that is under an agreement whereby the Thai government will return a commensurate amount at the end of the year.

 

The Kingdom of Bhutan is quite familiar to many Thais after its crown prince became something of a celebrity in Thailand following a visit to celebrate an auspicious birthday of the last monarch, notes ASEAN NOW.

 

It is one of the world's smallest countries, landlocked in the Himalayas.

150,000 is less than one day's production at SB.  Why bother unless there are other issues.  I am concerned regarding this developmemt.

It would have been part of the worldwide rollout. However the fact they have come from one the worlds poorest nations, shows there is no shame in this current regime.

Will they replace them or have they financially compensated the generosity of the Bhutan people?

because of mismanagement the Government is looking for ways to safe face.... But it is shameful to even make an article about 150.000 doses borrowed from a poor country, as in Thailand very wealthy people could buy more and better vaccines, but in stead it will be spend on holidays in Germany

This was the nation that is now breaking its own vaccine contracts with its ASEAN neighbors to save their own skins as a result of sickening hubris and pathetic propaganda stunts that backfired. This donation that they have passed on to Thailand is probably surplus to their current requirements anyway and would otherwise exceed its use by date.

 

They are two friendly Buddhist Asian nations, one helping the other out.

Bhutan's charity (which really isn't -since the favour must be returned) highlights the fact that even a paltry 150,000 jabs are so desperately needed here, even as there are people losing their eyesight from having steel grenades fired into their faces over the unrest this has caused, and you're seemingly oblivious to the collective rage of every person who lives in Thailand without the benefit of elite patronage?

That's what all the fuss is about.

Delivered from a country with a population of only 770,000. So the donation amounted to 19.5% of their population.

I can only imagine what would have happened if the Thai Govt. did not accept all the vaccine it could get their hands on.

 

Then the comments would have been.:

 

"General doesn't care about his people", "too slow to get vaccine" etc etc etc.....

 

A single jab might save a life - so the more vaccine the merrier - doesn't matter where it comes from.

There were many doses donated from the EU countries. In EU pretty much nobody wants AZ, they have better vaccines to choose, and they are getting rid of the old AZ stock which is nearing its expiry date. Hopefully Bhutan stored them properly, including Thailand it would be 3 countries stopover from the factory before they get administered.
