The man who stabbed two female students to death and injured six others in a rampage in downtown Udon Thani in Thailand's north east last year has been sentenced to death.

Two females - a 17 year old high school student and a 22 year old university student - were stabbed to death.

Six others were injured in the attack that occurred during a festival to mark Father's Day - December 5th 2020.

The court announced yesterday morning that despite an admission of guilt there was no reason not to deliver the death penalty.

The ruling described the crime as brazen, cruel, savage and inhumane happening in public on the road during a festival.

All the victims were completely innocent just enjoying a day out on the public holiday.

Itthiphol or Jack aged 31 was given the death sentence for the two murders. He was jailed for life for the six attempted murders.

In addition he was fined 1,000 baht for having a knife as a weapon in public.

The upshot of the cases was death plus a 1,000 baht fine, reported Sanook

So will he have to serve the life sentences first, before

getting the death sentence

Will be on death row for life if situation (decision maker) does not change (his mind).

No execution since 2018 (a singular case which still leaves many clueless why THIS murderer was executed).

Well, well ........... not quite understood is the financial fining compared to the physical reprimand. Death sentence and THB 1'000 .........

Yet I congratulate the authorities to rid society of such maniacs, good riddance and no problems by that particular fellow in the future.

Back room bag over the head... some police have the know-how.

Did you just say that it´s right of the police to break the law?

He got his sentence, why can´t you just accept that and show some respect to intelligence?

does he get to pay the fine before or after he dies ??

Preferably before, but can always be deducted from his estate ????

"The court announced yesterday morning that despite an admission of guilt there was no reason not to deliver the death penalty."

Well now, there's a surprise...

If he'd have killed a couple of foreigners he would have been allowed to say, "sorry" and then been let off with a wrist-slap, perhaps would have had to pay for the funeral expenses as well.

Finally, a sentence that befits the crime. One can only hope it’s carried out quickly

Death the same way he caused the death to the two girls, he should be handcuffed and each parent allowed to do the honours, revenge being bitter sweet.

Let him fear for his life as the innocent girls did.
