Sand is turning to kitty litter.

End the quarantine for fully vaccinated.

Or at least drop it to 5 or 7 days...

Meanwhile Phangnga operators want the government to step in after concerns that foreigners were being charged 8,000 baht and Thais 500 baht for tests. This was creating further aggravation and hindering efforts to get the diving business off the ground.

So the tourist businesses will no longer be ripping off tourists with overcharging ?

Dual pricing is endemic in Thailand and has been as long as I can remember, the only reason being GREED !!!

The do it to each other.. A thai will charge a Thai with a non regional accent more.. etc etc..

Localism and clan based thinking is rife.. The concept of equality or equal treatment is not in the culture..

Why do they do this, again and again. don't they realize how stupid the look???

How can they possibly think they look stupid, when there are so many people more than willing to cough up the asking price?

They want to make sure they get the chance to welcome up to half a million Russians and other former socialist republic countries who have been vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine.

Delusional doesn't quite cover it.

The new normal seems somewhat old.

Nobody not going to come because of dual pricing.  Although it would be nice not to have it.

Its returning home from a country with a raging pandemic and extremely low vaccination rate.

You'll be quarantined upon return at your expense.

The governments idiotic vaccine procurement decried by the medical and financial community is going to cost them a lot more than if they had initially just bought 200 million quality mRNA vaccines a year ago.

Russians were never big on Krabi anyway.

All I know is there heavy drinkers, have bald heads, and have beautiful wives.

I think dual pricing will come under pressure if prospective tourists get to know about it. They will probably be kept in the dark. Time for foreign governments to step in and advise people about this fraud.

They will know all right, a test in home country is under a thousand baht !

Another example where TAT cannot do a sanity check on a number. 500K Russians arriving between now and end of 2021 is just over 4,100 arriving per day. Aeroflot’s largest aircraft (777-300ER) holds just over 400 passengers if booked full in every class. So … just over 10 packed full widebody flights from Russia per day? The entire sandbox operation is not even seeing close to that number (and those that do land are far from full).

Even if TAT meant over the next year, they are still assuming more full widebody arrivals per day at HKT from Russia than it has ever seen.

Thailand's tourist down turn is OVER. Yesterday half of India coming to holiday, today 500,000 Russians and don't forget the article a  few weeks back that the Chinese will flood back to Thailand as well. Glad to see they don't need the rest of the worlds tourists as all accommodation will be booked out and money will flowing in the streets.

So half a million Russians are expected to come to Krabi during the pandemic, I wish it's true, but I'm afraid that they borrowed a TAT-calculator...????

Yeah, I'm a bit sceptical about these figures too. I have been to Krabi and the surrounding areas and islands over the past ten years -- and have never come across a pesky Rusky ever!  Not that I ever want to either!

So, I wonder where they get to and hang out -- anyone know?  I'd just like the info to know what areas to keep away from!

When you see them discussing tourist projections it's always only in terms of anticipated income, anticipated amounts spent per head. They never seem to take into account that these tourists are human beings that should be treated kindly and given protection from the ever increasing local criminal elements, and given medical treatment when required without patting their hands together with glee and seeing an ill or injured foreigner as someone to be financially gutted.

It’s a numbers game for them. But then again hasn’t it always been. It’s just not Thai style to care about other people. Me first, that’s all.

They just can't help themselves, can they?  Sad.  ????

Time for foreign governments to dual charge Thais. But most civilised governments  do not support racism unlike Thailand

The only stat I have about Krabi is from 2018, and that only give the Top 3 numbers...

Chinese 33%, in numbers 1.2 million;

Americans (USA) 6%, in numbers 0.2 million;

Brits 5%, in numbers 0.2 million.

But things might have changed since then...????

The Riots in BKK would pale into insignificance should the Russians be denied their Drink.

Why the ban on bars ? Like it or not it is the nightlife/ bars that are a major attraction to Thailand . So now we have most who come to Thailand will have been vaccinated but for some reason are not provided with bars to drink alcohol . Straight away I would cross off Thailand for my hols . Travelling has become difficult this year but Europe is getting more popular . In any case who wants to do a long haul trip to detox Thailand . ( or drink beer out of tea cups )
