Lifting of Emergency Decree = No more Covid visa extensions?

Featured Replies

It appears they are talking about lifting the emergency decree soon. I believe the Covid visa extensions was part of this emergency decree. Does anyone have any information if the Covid visa extensions will also be canceled?

The covid extension will not be offered anymore after the emergency decree is lifted.

Those who have already been granted extension can stay up to the date mentioned in your PP.

You will hear different opinions on the fate of the Covid extensions on expiry of the emergency decree. A common opinion will be that Covid extensions will only cease when land borders open. Personally, I do not see the linkage (except possibly for nationals of neighbouring countries). Covid extensions may remain for a while after the end of the emergency decree, but I expect them to end this year.

I'll believe that when I see it.  Until then I wouldn't hold my breath.

just like in 2020 when IO kept saying its going to end and the government kept extending it.

I would guess mid 2022 if the world chooses to live with this disease otherwise who knows this could go on for years.
