There's many sensational news stories were after the 1st few days there are no further updates, or we never hear the outcome.

Yes there was the aussie who was killed by an American on soi 6, that went cold. I'm expecting the Looker story to go cold

And the American  was already wanted for questions or a possible suspect in a Similar crime in America.   How did he even get into the country?  Or the English pedophile that fled the UK, wanted on drug charges,  murdered the young girl from a Soi 6 bar by means of his balcony.   Barely served any time for the murder.

Don't forget the Irish guy who hacked that girl to death with a machete whilst on methamphetamine and then, after turning himself in, managed to somehow find his way back to his home country less than 6 months later.

yeah that's a bad one, hopefully the family got 1m+ baht which is better than just a prison sentence

What about the rich hotel owners found dead by the pool by their son and all CCTV cameras were out of order?  (Krabi I think?)
And the guy in Pattaya who shagged his GF off the balcony of the condo and went on the run?

Well remembered, we should keep a list

There doesn't seem to be any investigative journalism in Thailand at all. I'm not sure what the journalists all do.

Imagine if someone started up a local version of 60 Minutes, 4 Corners or other investigative programming.

It's quite a dangerous occupation in Thailand.

Quote from one of those listed in the link ...

Surat Thani police believe Withayut, 56 [a radio journalist], was killed as a result of his reporting on irregularities involving a 50 million baht (US$1.1 million) real estate deal for a municipal garbage dump. The reports began in 1999 and eventually led the Interior Ministry to investigate and to order a portion of the money returned to the government.

End of story...

All the investigative journalists left Thailand when the military took over and changed the libel laws making it impossible to do their job. ????

The top news is the elderly Hungarian lady who's husband just died  that got arrested for over stay. Seems they are proud as hell for getting that dangerous criminal off the streets. And a reminder to all thais to keep on calling on any suspicious money spending ,thai family supporting farangs.

Thais are taught from their first day at school never to question, and even before that never to question or challenge their 'betters' (older, higher on the social ladder, richer etc). And that's why there is no investigative journalism. How often have you seen on the news crowds of journalists standing around someone making a statement, but rarely asking a question and certainly never asking why they are talking a load of b***ocks. And don't forget that not long ago when someone did dare to ask the PM a question the dear leader threatened to have his mouth taped shut. Thailand is not a democracy in any sense. Our Western values do not exist here.

All of Asia.  You may not like your Uncle, but you must listen to him and do as you are told.
