BANGKOK, Sept 17 (TNA) – More than 50% of people in eight provinces have been vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration.

Dr. Apisamai Srirangson, assistant spokeswoman for CCSA, said that as of Sept 17,  43,342,103 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in the country. Of them, 28.4 million doses were for the first jab for 39.5% of the population, 14.2 million doses as the second jab for 19.8% of the population and 620,000 doses as the third jab.

so less than 20% of the population have been vaccinated

That's the current figure. And coming along nicely.

Could be worse, considering the programs recent history.

“Meanwhile, more than 70% of elderly people aged 60 and over have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in five provinces namely Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Phuket, Ranong and Phangnga.”

Coming along nicely after a slow start thanks the efforts of the nurses and front line volunteers.

The numbers I see for daily vaccinations are impressive and one can expect we will reach high percentages of fully vaccinated on schedule if they continue.

Particularly impressive on some Fridays when well into the 900k+

Remarkable.

So what happened to the 70%+ double vax nationwide before opening up?

No longer convenient?

Tough luck for the rest of the country though.

Besides conflating one dose with "being vaccinated", these figures do not account for the sinovac 2x patients, who the government say need a booster. So 10 - 12 mm people will require a 3rd shot.

Still, they are crushing it during the week with ~ 800,000 doses administered daily, and second doses outstripping first doses by 2x.

And how many provinces are there in Thailand!  77!  Only another 69 to go to get 50% people in ALL provinces vaccinated!  And that is still 20% below the accepted immunity level.  I expect that most of these 8 provinces are around Bangkok or Phuket of course.
