Phuket marks 254 new COVID cases, two more deaths

PHUKET: The latest Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) daily COVID situation report has marked 254 new local infections confirmed across the island yesterday (Sept 21) bringing the total number of people recognised as infected with COVID-19 in Phuket since Apr 3 to 9,258.

 

The PPHO report, marked as accurate as of 8pm last night, reported two new infections among Sandbox tourist arrivals.

 

The report also marked two new deaths attributed to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in Phuket attributed to COVID-19 since Apr 3 to 60. Of those, 40 occurred this month, with 20 deaths in the past seven days.

Just did a quick calculation and it turns out covid cases in Phuket (The most vaccinated province in the Kingdom) are about 3 times higher than the national average?

These numbers are relying of course, on how many tests done in each province and so on.. But that information seems to be difficult to publish..

Either way. It doesnt look too good for the zero-covid strategy based on mass vaccination.

Cant have a beer but Covid 19 freely available at most locations.

you are correct, just saw many fully loaded airplanes, circling around/over the airport,  queueing to land  555  ROFL

I keep wondering why a map or district list is no longer issued. Is it because the one responsible caught the desease or because it would not quite match the reporting or...

Phuket might well be the only place in Thailand that has adequate testing in place, and it's educational how persistent the current wave keeps lingering there still, with no signs of abating thus far.

I thought that too, but when I checked the numbers a couple of weeks ago, Phuket only had about 1.5x as many tests as the average for Thailand, as per below:
