webfact
By Subhabhong Rarueysong BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health has revealed that Thailand’s vaccine stockpile will top 125 million doses by the end of the year as vaccination picks up pace across all segments of the population. Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said security of vaccine supply and a steady rate of vaccinations were essential for restarting the economy. The nationwide inoculation drive is speeding up as more vaccine arrives and the rollout will be accelerated to cover all population segments so the country can return to normality. He said the first shots now covered 44.45% of the population and 57.44% of the target groups. A total of 16.6 million people, or 23.9% of the population, have received two shots. COVID-19 vaccinations in Thailand have surpassed 50 million doses after a record 1.44 million were administered on Friday. Meanwhile, Thai ambassador to the United States, H.E. Manasvi Srisodapol, said US authorities will call a meeting of the Thai-US working group next week, to discuss how to proceed with the US donation of an additional million doses of vaccines to Thailand. Previously, the group met to discuss the delivery of the first batch of 1.5 million doses donated by the US. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-09-27 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 1

Popular Post Gottfrid
Never a good idea to stockpile vaccines, as they can only be stored for a small amount of time. 11 1 4
Popular Post bluejets
Having a stockpile is like a pilot saying "plenty of runway behind us". Don't they realise people are screaming out to get vaccinated and trying to get life back to some form of normality. 10 4
Popular Post pizzachang
64 million = population of Thailand. 125 million "stockpiled doses". 23.9% fully vaccinated. Another million vaccinated on Friday, Sept. 24th. Either the virus is 10 times more dangerous than the worldwide death-rate indicates, or the vaccines (excluding the Sinovac) really don't protect that much, so more and more inoculations have to be given. Having received plenty of vaccine inoculations in my life, IMO this situation is different than anything, I have ever heard of. Reminder, this is only an opinion from observation. 5

Popular Post mfd101
Does it occur to anyone that the word 'stockpile' might be a mistranslation? And what he actually said might possibly have been "We will have ordered and received in total ... ". 7 1
Popular Post hioctane
Stockpile probably means acquire. Everyone knows how Thai to English translation is not always accurate. At 1M+ doses a day, the optimist in me says they could possibly reach 70% by December.

I think the 125 mm figure includes any/all vaccines from Feb onwards, the bulk of which are due in Q4. And he now refers to vaccines as inactivated (sinopharm, sinovac and AZ) or mRNA. And he lumps different vaccines into different categories on a whim. Not sure if he's just incapable of comprehending the details, or is deliberately obfuscating the facts to perpetuate a more positive view? Probably just incompetence. This is the most recent chart I have...I think a large-ish order for sinopharm was placed since this was publsihed. Some have now gotten a 3rd shot and some even a 4th shot. Hopefully, the new free shipment from the US of Pfizer will go to school kids around the country and not just to BKK. 1

Popular Post Sydebolle
Has anyone told Anutin that he is a part of the problem and not the solution? If he and his cronies, underlings, helpers and assistants would have done his job, then the entire country would have been vaccinated over already. 3

Vaccines or all types prevent such dire conditions. 4 1

JimHuaHin
Apart from the issues raised in earlier posts - what is the expiry date of all these vaccines? Several months ago there was a report that Hong Kong was giving away millions of China-made vaccines, because their expiry date was approaching and not many people in Hong Kong wanted the China-made vaccines.

Hopefully I don't see a beaming Anutin announcing another huge order of Sinovac. The government had announced no more Sinovac until the second generation comes out. Then two days later the ordered 12 million more doses. If they really want to help the economy and the people there goals should be to vaccinate 100% of the population. They should also use mRNA vaccines approved for travel in the USA and Europe. The obstacles the Chinese vaccines have are more detriment to the economy than these fools realized.
