USB over IP extender - anyone seen one in Thailand

Featured Replies

I need a USB over IP extender, something like this one https://www.kvm-switches-online.com/usb-ip-4lc.html

And of course I need it "now" (existing one has gone ga-ga).

Anyone seen something similar here, a search of the usual suspects came up dry ????

EDIT Yes, it needs to be 4 port.

Never really seen anything, because I have never had the need - However, If I wanted to do something like that, I would look to set up a USB server on a raspberry pi .. I just searched and saw a couple of tutorials on YouTube and the web.

Nice,

Did not know something like that existed and how good it works. But could be a good thing for those of us that use a home network and multiple computers.

Maybe Ask Thomas @ Invadeit he would know where to get one!

sorry for hijacking the thread but as people started mentioning Raspberries...

This app looks promising and I have an old android TV box that I could possibly use. It's only got 2 ports so with luck the app will work with a USB hub.

Sadly Thomas failed ????

A Raspberry Pi, old Android TV Box, even a computer will work.

If you wanna share USB over LAN it's pretty easy using USB Redirector (free) or FlexiHub (paid). (or similar apps in Android)

If you wanna share USB over the Internet, use Hamachi or similar to create a VPN with whomever you want to share the USB + USB Redirector (or Flexihub) and it will work just as good (albeit slower).

Sorted, tested with an old Android TV box and VirtualHere https://www.virtualhere.com/ works just fine.

So I've ordered an Android box with 4 USB ports for a massive 500 Baht

https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i1462724316-s3823956565.html

and I'll get the licenced version of VirtualHere on offer at $25.

Cheaper than the dedicated unit and it has WiFi ????

Question, where did you get that discount from. I see only the $49 one!

If you run the App until the trial licence expires (7 starts) you can right click on the expired server in the client interface and that shows the offer.

Note that licences are tied to the server hardware and can't be transferred which is a potential bind.

Hi Crossy,

Couple of weeks ago I bought DTECH VD067. It's HDMI and USB over IP. About 4300 baht on shopee.

Unfortunately, the transmitter has it's on DHCP server which messed up my network, so I had to run a

dedicated line between the transmitter and receiver. Other than that it works ok, with the expected lag ...

Best Regards,

rudi

Just to complete the story.

The el-cheapo Android box worked OK EXCEPT that the 4 USB ports appear to be only actually 2. The 3 ports on the side only recognise the first device plugged into that row. Plugging a USB hub into one of those ports works fine and all devices on the hub are recognised. The rest of it works fine and I can't be a***d to send it back.

Since it's a better processor than the "old" (X96) Android box I've got the hub plugged into the X96 and my devices are all working happily.

The new box will be tried as an actual TV box.
