Online gaming giant Valve Corporations said on Friday that its online gaming distribution channel Steam will begin collecting a 7-per-cent tax on Thai gamers starting from October 15 following the government’s guidance to ease the public debt burden.

Valve stated on its website that Thailand will be added to a list of countries from which tax will be collected. Other South-East Asian countries on the list include Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

The gamer group Sheapgamer said that other platforms that accept Thai currency, such as Origin, also announced plans to collect the tax.

Yes tax the generation that already loathes You.

GF just found 10K+ charges on her account from Steam. Looks like someone trying a scam. Did a Google search, apparently a global problem of non authorized charges from Steamgames. Hopefully the bank will reverse and put the money back into her account. She says she has never signed up or used any Steam game stuff.

So charging kids , disgusting, the kids will be paying for the governments  incompetent for most of their life, leave them alone now

What happened to the government wanting to support gamers more? So what you're saying is to buy all my Steam games before moving. Like seriously, video games cost enough.

My UK credit card was recently hacked into with multiple charges for "Steam Games". Luckily the bank refunded me the charges.
