Your stuck in yesteryear yet the Miata has been around a long time and is sold to more men then women, so you must believe those that drive it are Katoey's

Are you saying all Leftists are Katoey's? Perhaps in the crowd you run with, but that has not been my experience.

From the link, which by the way cleared all of my security software.

For over 32 years, the Mazda Miata has maintained its reputation as one of the world’s great sports cars, with the newest 2022 model receiving mostly stellar reviews. To laymen’s ears, it might sound odd to speak of the Miata in the same breath as legendary cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini or BMW. The Miata’s petite appearance, minimal features and relatively low power compared to other “sports cars” has given it the misguided stereotype of being a “chick car.”

In a sense, I understand it. The historical iconography of American car culture naturally biases toward hetero dudes and cars that symbolize their own agency and power; heroes like Tony Stark and James Bond drive million-dollar supercars with 700 horsepower these days, not a four-cylinder Mazda that retails for 26k. Given that, it seems hard to imagine young, car-obsessed boys tearing down their Lamborghini posters in favor of a lil’ cherry Miata with pop-up lights.

And odds are, if you’re a dude who drives a Miata, someone in your life will wonder out loud: “Isn’t that kind of a girl’s car?” Indeed, you can find countless threads on car forums and Reddit with men wondering the same thing. Nevermind that trying to define a “girly” car is simultaneously offensive and unscientific, or that it bolsters a massive sexism problem in car culture, or just that manufacturers deliberately avoid gendered marketing. (Or even that Miata owners are literallydisproportionately men.)

Ah yes, it says dodgy on a public connection, first time it has told me that, but it seems melmagazine is flagged, mind you, I do have a zillian surfing safety things on my PC.. ????

"A Miatra is a girls car", hmmmm, well at least it's not a Chinese fake performance car, it does have Japanese tech and history....????

Which I think reflects more on the understanding of what a sports car is?

Or that different groups understand a sports car to be.

My best friend in the world drives a Miata, not my thing, but it seems like a great little car. He traded a Ford (I think) Fusion in on it.

Miata MX 5 ... 181 hp & 205 Nm torque ... how much do you need for city or country driving.  Seems pretty damn sporty to me.

0 to whatever the speed limit is ... who you trying to impress ?  How old are some of you ?

What does it have to do with what anyone needs? Why can people not buy something because they want it? But in any event, yes, it's a sports car in much the same way that a Chinese MG is a "road car".

Once again ... in agreement ????

Nothing wrong with wanting, as I have plenty of toys I don't need.  But the implication of people racing around the streets, with such power is silly.

A few here yearning for days past, when they wish what they had or probably didn't have, but wish they had and visiting their imaginary race car youth  ...  ????

Just make some popcorn, and binge watch 'Fast & Furious 1-20'

In the sixties some people laughed at Japanese motorbikes, and then in the seventies Japanese cars.

China is taking over as the manufacturing hub of the world and there is nothing to stop it as, at the end of the day, people want cheap stuff - and it's not necessarily poor quality.

Can only think of one thing that is reasonable value for money and that is Seagull watches.

A speed hobby has no age limit, except for big girls blouse types.....

For instance, here is a real MG, with Stirling Moss at the helm, who carried on racing until he could no more....????

At least with an ICEV, one does not need to stay close to home....

Plenty of nice great places to drive in Thailand...

I was street/strip racing in London up until I moved to LOS...Perhaps you should have been more adventurous during your lifetime, for some of us age is just a number, not a marked out age calendar..????

Or can take a leisurely holiday, stopping every 200 kms to appreciate all the non touristy nooks & crannies, as we do when out & about.  It has taken me 2 weeks at times, to go from Udon Thani to Phuket in the ICEV.  Also 2 weeks on the return, and stayed at, seen different places each directions.

Hell, recently it's taken 2 weeks from PKK to go to Phuket.  I'm never in a hurry.  For us, it's more the journey, not the destination.

I did my training near Aylesbury just after the M1 opened. On a Saturday night we used to go to the California ballroom in Dunstable and then out on to the Mi for a bit of racing. About 5 or 6 abreast at 1 in the morning, out of the question these days. My Anglia struggled to get to 60 on a downhill slope, the guy with the Austin Westminster always won the day.

My second car was a Mk1 Zephyr, also bought from a friend, think £70.

And these people have the nerve to criticise Thai drivers....

What you see in Thai drivers, you will see around the world, only the percentage varies.

I would readily admit that as a young driver I was reckless and only alive through good luck rather than judgement. A great deal of the luck stemmed from the fact that at the time in question vehicles generally did not move as fast.

I was stationed in Germany and drove around on the wrong side of the road for two and a half years without a knock, that was a turning point.

1973, well it had to happen, they were on the shelf, so why not, the MGB GT with a V8....

I never really worked out why they used a de-tuned version of the reduced cc Buik engine (3.5ltr) in a "sports" car, perhaps the light weight of the MGB. The Rover saloons had way more HP on tap. Loved to have had a go in one though, but I did have a go of a TR8, same engine, but it wasn't a factory TR8, a conversion, where I had to tell the owner there is something wrong with it, it's a slug..????

Typical BMC/BL old school, using ancient SU carbs, instead of a fit and forget downdraught carb, as all USA V8's had back then...But still, bet it was fun to drive with all that torque....????

Downdraughts were virtually fit and forget, even the Italians had the right idea with their side draughts. UK Fords, were fomoco downdraughts, again simple things that were fit and forget. In our Mini tuning days, the SU's were scrapped for Weber side or down draughts, amazing difference..

Weber did a very nice conversion for your Jag....????

Yeah an expensive one for a Jag.

Ford carbs were a nightmare on our escort vans the coating inside them them came off and blocked jets and caused problems, so I had them replaced with single Weber convertion kits which were quite straightforward.

There is a basic fallacious your premise; the percentage doesn't vary significantly at all. This is a common fault of perception due to confirmation bias.
