Hello, I am installing a new ceiling fan.

The instructions indicate a ground wire should be run, but there does not seem to be any place to connect it to the fan, nor do the instructions show where to connect. The instructions show four wires from the fan, two hots, a neutral and a ground, but the fan only has three wires, hot, hot and neutral.

Neither does the controller have any place to connect the ground.

I assume I can connect it to the hanger, but would that suffice?

Thought?

Does the fan have a separate switch?  Otherwise, the 3 wires are likely L, N, E.  Is the fan for wall or ceiling mount?

It's a ceiling fan.

L1, brown, fan

L2, orange, light

N, blue

The wall-mount control has a speed selector for the fan and an off/on switch for the light.

Who's going to be touching the fan?

I assume I'll have to touch it to install it, and later to clean the blades and globe.

Yes.  Earth from CU connect to screw on hanger.

You OK for wiring?

It would be nice if you could get to a screw on the motor itself, but the hanger would probably be adequate.

It looks like I can use a screw on the motor assembly that is mounting (I think) a capacitor.

Sound good?

Works for me.

is that the way the control box came?  It seems strange to me that it would have pigtails for connections.  If you use wire nuts, I suggest tape to secure nut to the wires.

Yeah, that's how the switch came, except for the red heat-shrink on the blue wire.  I came with small-wire nuts, but the box is tiny.

I might twist, solder and heat-shrink if I can't get everything in.
