Thai PM urges relevant government agencies to fix “Thailand Pass” system after many did not receive QR code

National – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha yesterday, November 7th, has ordered relevant Thai agencies to improve the “Thailand Pass” system after multiple applicants reportedly did not receive the QR Code for checking in.

 

Government spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana told the Associated Press that the Prime Minister had acknowledged the problem that some registered travelers of the “Thailand Pass” system did not receive or receive the QR Code later than usual.

 

“The Prime Minister, therefore, ordered relevant agencies to speed up the improvement of the system in order to provide proper more convenient service to the travelers, including Thai people who planned to return home and foreign visitors who wished to travel to Thailand for tourism or work purposes,” the spokesperson stated.

speed it up, yes good idea, Copy of you vaccine on your phone or country issued cert, maybe negative test paperwork and flight ticket - rest is complete balls.

 

You keep the pass more than another 6 weeks and nobodies coming in numbers next year either.

 

They have said only 30,000 will come a month now - 1000 tourists a day - no airport , business or airlines can manage that continuing loss. Numbers are up now due to people like us that want to go back or need to, there will be a drop off in the coming weeks if pass not abandoned.

 

The Thai pass site should have this put on the web site.

Well it's taken 7 days, but for the PM to make this announcement.. the news of T/P simply being almost unobtainable to 1000's of would be tourists because of it's many faults is a step in the right direction surely..?

 It does beg the Q. however that will they make the system less stringent.. Maybe start to accept a few minor errors (like Covid cover not being highlighted under medical insurance policies)

  These little glitches that prevent folk actually boarding their flights!

But first he should appoint a few committees to try and figure out whether any of the ”Thai agencies” involved are actually....relevant. This could take a while.

We concentrate the great unwashed tourists who cannot get the Thailand Pass, how about the poor Thais who cannot get back home?

 

These people are far more significant to the relevant authorities than the great unwashed. Even more worrying for them, they can complain in the correct language, and they may have connected relatives!

Right, that's sorted then, might as well cancel my flight.

 

Why have a 'Pass' at all? Just issue clear instructions to the airlines on what passengers need to have and it'll sort itself.  They can check you have everything on arrival (which they will anyway) and make it clear that if you haven't complied, you're going home at the airlines's expense.

You'd think in Thailand 4.0 with dreams of smart cities that the need to have this resolved wouldn't even rise above the level of the programers manager it would be patently obviously and a team would have been working on it first day out of the gate.

 

PM constantly sticking his nose into mundane, low level stuff that doesn't rise to the position. In the end this is an issue with the design and coding of a program.

 

This would free his time and he can get back to solving corriander shortages.

 

 

Hey  stoopid peepl ... PCR test prior to flight. ATK tests at the airport... DONE. Problem solved.

The entire process is fraught with the errant nature of required data to be supplied in image formats. 

When one already has  Health Insurance Policy, Airline booking confirmation, AQ Hotel booking confirmation  received either as pdf documents or physical mail it is insulting to state that the Thai Pass process is now simple and easy. How many people are familiar with the necessary procedures or have the knowledge to carry out the document conversiion to images.

I am of the opinion that most if not all the bosses in authority that authorised this system have not tried to get a Pass using the current system.

I wonder how many of those who have successfully applied for the Thai Pass were people who already had a familiar knowledge of working with and converting files etc.

The problems getting the pass aren't the only issues.

my daughter is 12 and has had one vaccination as is all that is allowed for 12-15 year olds in UK, however in order to only do 1 day quarantine it seems everyone over 12 years has had to be double vaxed. Not only is that not possible here but the NHS does not issue Covid Certs to 12 year olds so you can't download anything for the application. 

How many Family Xmas visitors from countries like the UK is that going to discourage 

OK so that appears staying within the blue zone for 7 days, children under 18 travelling with parents are exempt for the vaccination requirement as long as staying in Blue Zone. It seems you arrive BKK, blue zone and you can move around outside in blue zone proving your PCR Thai test has come back negative, but we wanted to go to Ko Chang on day 3, what is unclear is what 'travel restricted in Sandbox Area' for 7 days means. It also says must stay in a SHA+ hotel in blue area for 7 days. So Bangkok is Blue, Ko Chang is Blue, both our hotels are SHA + are we allowed on day 3 to fly from BKK to Trat (blue) and on to Ko Chang or do we have to stay in the same hotel, in the same blue zone for 7 days. Thats going to eat up 7/8 days of our 20, makes it kinda pointless going and if I hadn't paid for the flights and the first SHA+ hotel, tests etc already I would be cancelling, my hope is they realise how much this is going to deter families coming and change the rule

They cannot issue clear instructions to their own Ministries or Departments. What makes you think that passing the buck to the airlines solves the problem?

I agree why have a pass at all? The only essential is a COVID Pass obtained during the required period prior to and accepted by the airline when boarding.

As a young un joining the computer industry in 1965 I recall the popular fear that computers would replace humans leaving millions unemployed. 

At the time those engaged in the Data Processing Industries, (Information Technology, came into the vocabulary much later) were usually with an above average IQ. Not now.

Unfortunately the proliferation of a little knowledge has enabled many individuals to participate and make careers in IT. This has led to current disasters. 

The UK has spent billions since the start of the pandemic. Test and Trace, Covid Pass etc. Try convincing someone that you have received your booster jab but have no proof. I asked for documentation upon receiving the booster and was told none was being provided. 

All aboard please for the freight train to LOS. We will arrive someday, smiling and happy/\^.

You are right, the image format is already a pain. If you have any document saved in PDF, you will have to reformat it to jpg or other image format, otherwise you cannot upload it. I started my application yesterday, but have been unable to complete for many reasons, including waiting for my hotel confirmation of the booking. I strongly suspect I will have to start the entire application over again once all the exact specifications have been assembled, but you don't know that until you start. Very errant system.

Why go home at the airlines's expense? The airlines should be able to check everything before you're boarding a flight.

Yet Thailand with their abysmal online record past of visa extension que, 90 day etc or the many data breaches both banks & government sites on a regular basis will try such a feat?

Actually, I'm quite astounded as to the number of applicants that took the process on straight away, not really comprehending that it was sure to have some basic and expected snafus associated. I believe the wiser folks will give 'em a month or two to sort out the glitches and obvious faux pas - in which, most of these things have been updated or fixed. 

 

A much much simpler and straight forward process could've been designed from the get go - no need for this Thailand Pass scam.

Vaccinated only entry -

Tested prior to flight checked with airline - 

No arrival testing or bladdy one night hotel bs - 

No insurance requirement - 

Visa processed in the normal fashion -

Do not know what is more scary . Fact that government could not get right first time or that it needs a PM to remind relevant agencies to fix the problem which should be pretty obvious and a priority.
