Popular Post simon43
I had 2 shots of AZ about 6 months go in Laos (donated by EU countries, thank-you very much!) In the run-up to leaving Laos to go live in Turkey, I had to prepare a 1 inch thick list of documents: - proof of my Covid vaccination and English translation - document from village head stating that I lived in the village and had been vaccinated - document from the village head giving me permission to venture outside the village - document from my employer giving me permission to leave Laos - document from the British embassy requesting that I be allowed to leave Laos - document from the Covid task force in Luang Prabang giving me permission to travel to Vientiane - document from Vientiane allowing me to enter Vientiane - PCR certificate from Lao health authority with my negative status. - QR stamp from Turkish health authority allowing me to enter the country. - Evidence of booked hotel in VTE. - Flight tickets and copies etc So I fly out from Vientiane, with many passengers wearing full hazmat kit (is this the flight to KL or Mars?!), having had all these documents checked. I transfer in KL with multiple checks again. I finally fly into Istanbul airport and present all these Covid documents at customs. "I don't need any of those, just your passport...welcome to Turkey!!" 9 5

Jeffr2
Turkey is pretty much wide open. They never locked down, but do have very high rates of the virus. Might want to pay attention to the news. A lady transited in Turkey to Egypt and now has that Omicron variant. Borders might be closing. 2

Popular Post spidermike007
The issue was obviously not Turkey. The issue was a pathologically ill nation named Laos. To engage in that much nonsense, is a serious form of illness. You think Turkey is not authoritarian? They have thousands more political prisoners than even LOS. And the lira is so weak because of the policies of one person who crushes all dissent. Not to mention the refugee blackmail, invasion against the Kurds ... Don't get me wrong, I love Turkey, was there long before tourism started, have worked with great Turkish colleagues, had a couple of really great Turkish lovers, like the food too. But like LOS, no illusions nowadays ... Another country showing how easy a democracy can be lost.

The same as with any other country - the official vaccination document is usually accepted by the destination country as proof of vaccination. The Lao document does include English language, but I also added a separate official translation document. My Lao vaccination card was requested in KL during transit, but no documents were required to enter Turkey ????
gearbox
I had the same experience in Turkey, any covid related paperwork is completely ignored and not looked at. They could replace the IOs with passport stamping robots. One does need HES code to travel within Turkey internally, many online booking portals were requiring it, but this can be obtained easily by sending a sms message to a specific number.
