PHUKET: Police have yet to piece together what led to an accident in Thalang early this morning (Dec 1) that left a Grab motorbike delivery dead after a collision with a pickup truck.

Police were notified of the accident, near the Bangjo intersection, in Moo 4, Srisoonthorn, at 1am.

Officers arrived with the rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation to find the body of Thinapat Sung, 39, by the side of the road.

Surprised it doesn't happen more often with food delivery drivers, some of their moves while riding are over the top even by local standards.

RIP.   I am not surprised by this at all there riding is even more dangerous than normal Thai riders. I hope the authorities are investigating  these food delivery companies into what safety standards they have for there riders. I also hope their is no set time in which they have to deliver to the customer. Although I suppose the quicker you deliver the more jobs you can do which will obviously lead to more accidents.

I can only reflect on the crazy driving by many delivery drivers in Pattaya. The absence of any mobile, traffic enforcement and the lack of consequence for illegal driving, is a contributing factor in this mess.

A culture of bad driving ?

We came across a grab driver yesterday changing lanes in front of us whilst checking his phone without checking behind.

Mind you all Thai motorcyclists do the same!

Very sad, but possibly checking his smartphone's "sat nav" system and not looking at the road ahead???

This is why I don’t visit this site very often because of idiots who put a laughing emoji on sad news like this.

nearly hit one yesterday ,he overtook on the inside then cut straight across me and shot through the lights as they went to red ,so many of them drive like this ,

RIP  but food delivery drivers are unbelievable regards thai driving standards evan to normal POOR thai driving !!
