Popular Post webfact
File photo for reference only By Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The Cabinet has given final approval for a new excise tax scheme covering smaller motorized vehicles including golf carts, ATVs, and buggies. This new scheme is expected to give the government an additional 400 million baht per year. The Cabinet today approved the new vehicle excise scheme covering smaller motorized vehicles, including three-wheeler trucks, golf carts, buggies, and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The new excise tax is aimed at providing clarity on excise collection against newer forms of motorized vehicles while promoting the electric vehicle industry for environmental conservation. Specific codes and rates for each of these vehicles will be updated on the vehicle and motorcycle section of the Ministerial Announcement governing the excise tax rates, as the excise taxes were not applicable for some of these items in the past. This new excise tax will be applicable to golf carts, buggies, and ATVs operated either on more than 12 volts of electricity or on fossil fuel; as well as three-wheeler vehicles that operate in the same manner as motorcycles. The government is expected to receive 400 million more revenue each year from the taxation, while the new, reduced rate for three-wheeler trucks would mean less revenue from this vehicle category. This new voltage-based excise taxation scheme goes in line with other similar international tax rates while corresponding to Thailand’s direction and policy to serve as a manufacturing base for electric vehicles. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-12-08 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 1 1

Popular Post redwood1
Why? The powers that be, are obsessed with getting rid of things that run on gas, and forcing people into electric cars ( Eventually)... So why the heck would you tax electric vehicles? It makes no sense...... Edited December 8, 2021 by redwood1
redwood1
Maybe it's those golfers riding around the golf course tax free, maybe it's time to make those freeloaders pay their fair share....

It makes no sense...... Au contraire - It makes 100% sense. Government policy globally is "if it moves tax it, and if it doesn't move, tax it some more". Eventually when the greenies get their way and we are reduced to walking (because every mode of wheeled transport has been taxed out of existence to benefit mankind), we will be taxed on a per step basis. If enough tax is avoided by people not walking and staying home, they will create a tax for oxygen itself and you'll be taxed on a per breath basis. Here's one I believe they will create within the next decade. If enough people move towards their own independent solar and wind electricity, governments will conclude they are cheating the system (essentially tax dodging) and they will tax you for the power you generate yourself. The stupidity of government is only matched by it's capacity for evil genius. Edit: For clarity, tongue now removed from cheek. The way gov'ts (all) waste your tax dollars, they need new ways to collect more. I'm waiting for the 'air' tax, based on your weight and how much you breathe yearly. They've taxed everything else, and usually multiple times. Income, water, petrol, utilities, food, dry goods, land, house, personal property, even carbon tax ????. If not directly, then manufacturers & businesses and it trickles down to the price tag and you're the one paying in the end. No kiss, no KY Even tax your estate when you die ... <deleted> Taxed after death, on something you already got taxed to death on while acquiring. Nojohndoe
If they can justify taxing golf buggies then how about the many thousands of the rural converted vehicles running on single cylinder diesel engines ? 1

They just keep taxing and spending until they run out of other people's money. Only when everybody has an equitable sized hovel to live in and are all starving equally will the socialist utopia be achieved.
