Pattaya – Two bar managers in the Pattaya area have been arrested for allegedly illegally operating entertainment venues and selling alcohol yesterday (December 19th).

The Pattaya City Police reported on their social media that they inspected two beer bars which were the ‘Easy Bar’ and ‘Thip Bar’ in the Pattaya area yesterday in the early morning hours. Two bar managers have been arrested, although they were not named and customers did not appear to have been fined or charged.

The two unnamed bar managers are facing charges of illegally operating venues, selling alcohol without a permit and breaking the Chonburi Disease Control Order for the ‘Blue Zone’.

Article states "It was unclear why these particular venues were selected for an inspection versus other “restaurants”, notes TPN staff".

I would think the owners of these bars did not contribute to the Pattaya Police Christmas party fund as why they were selected.

Could easily be any of a huge number of bars. No story here other than they had probably not paid sufficient "security" or "licencing" fees.

Expect more of the same... Christmas is coming and the (Buddhist) Mia Nois expect their presents no matter what...

So they were operating after established hours?  I've been in several Darkside bars and they say they must close @ 11pm, I imagine the same rules for the bright side?

I believe you hit the nail on the head. My little friend who runs a bar said she got a visit from the police saying she could go back to openly selling beer and not "special coffee" as long as she kept the pool table covered and stopped serving at 11:00, completely closed by midnight.

Where are these bars?..........i know Soi 7 Jomtien was raided a couple of nights back and there is an Easy Bar there...........cant recall a Thip bar

If it is Jomtien, it will of been Banglamung cops not Soi 9?

wow only two, is this a joke, pretty obvious that many "bars" opened middle of last week - when is a bar not a bar - they must have forgot to put a Grab poster out front lol

Hilarious what is going on here right now

Most of the "restobars" that are open are packed to the brim - there is an obvious need for more bars to open to relieve the pressure especially now that omicron will be spreading fast everywhere

Agreed… in a land where actions are often mystifying the reason ‘why’ these bars were ‘selected’ is crystal clear anyone….

Welcome to Thailand. We are open.

Please come and spend your vacation in an environment of uncertainty, persecution and selective prohibition.

From OP photo:-

Are those "working class" or "middle class" ex-pays sat at the bar????

I have my opinion but not stating so as not to offend!
