Not the best example, Mike Nesmith was a millionaire before being a Monkee, his mother invented Tipex.

I don't really know much about The Monkees except that they were poor musicians.

If it were me, already living in Thailand, I would prefer to take an in home test first.  If I test positive then I could just stay at home and self isolate.  If I developed worse symptoms then maybe

A lot depends on the Hospital, myself (British) and my wife Thai both tested positive back in November. We first went to a local health center and then to the local hospital in the town (Huai Yot, Tra

I'm in hospital quarantine, they told me that I cannot isolate at home "is law". True, dunno.    As it happens, I've developed some symptoms, so I'm probably better off here with the drugs,

CDC in USA just changed to 5 days isolation  for Omicron carriers is they are asymptomatic. After two days most are asymptomatic with Omicron variant, I'm lead to believe from internet reports.

Sure.  Take a home ATK test.  If you pop positive, shut up and recluse at home until pop negative.
Or
Run to your nearest private hospital who will forcefully incarcerate you for a price tag between 100K to 1M THB.  Remember - you're not a human.  You are a rich farang and a walking ATM.

It seems crazy to me. What motivation does a fully jabbed person with access to online purchases (including paracetamol etc) have to admit to hospital unless faced with serious symptoms?

Surely, by far the most sensible and prudent thing to do (once testing positive through ATK) is to isolate at home, medicate appropriately, sleep well, exercise within the confines of your space, and drink lots of water.

Wait until you ATK-test negative twice (on days 10 and 11 (or 12/13 etc) of isolation) and that's it.

What's the motivation for admitting to hospital, apart from lining the hospital's pockets with money? Am I missing something?

I know loads of people in the UK who have Covid at the moment. Everyone I know is perfectly able to manage this at home. I know those who are weak, aging etc are not in the same boat and hospital might be appropriate for these people. But for everyone else?????

I would think with the likely surge in Omicron variants of CV-19, if all who tested positive were required to be hospitalised, the system would be overwhelmed. Those who can isolate at home and who have mild symptoms should be allowed to do so. I imagine it will be a fast changing policy as the coming days reveal how many new cases have developed over the New Year holiday.

How did a topic about Isolation rules become a debate about capitalism?

Avoid all testing is the way to go IMHO.

Partially agreeable... i.e. Avoid all ‘official’ testing at a hospital.

But, test regularly with ATK at home for the benefit of others - i.e. we’ve been testing at home etc before going around to friends houses or having friends round at ours - they’ve been doing the same.

If my my family and / or I test positive, we isolate at home until we test negative.

But... I have to take a PCR test before travelling to work - then I have little choice and if I test positive I just have to accept the consequences (but would demand a second test to make sure).
