They correctly showed their need to be closeted in that era. There was nothing box ticking or alternative casting of these characters in that historical setting. The story lines of these characters add to the richness of the series. Educated blacks and closeted gays were not unusual in the New York of that era. While I do understand objections to Henry the 8th being played by a Polynesian trans man I see no fair objection to the inclusion of the above characters in Gilded Age. The Hammer2021 Posted February 5, 2022 Share Posted February 5, 2022 Jack Reacher Series 1 E1 starts with impeccable music, Howling Wolfe-Smokestack Lightening and thankfully introduces us to a more accurately cast Reacher than the ludicrous Tom 'Tiny' Cruise. Accurate casting is important and like editing and camerawork is an essential part of quality, realistic TV drama movies. Alan Ritchson plays Reacher and is a suitably neutral actor, a blank canvass for the Reacher character. I would have preferred Jim Caviezel of POI fame.
