Is it fun? Or a bit depressing- I do  hope it's not like an instructional manual.

Do you actually watch these cinema propaganda films? I'm beginning  to feel you are preaching or signalling something other than movies or TV entertainment. Anyway- what was your favourite  scene in the film? Do tell!

If you are interested  in politics  films I can recommend

Just watched the zany comedy Georgy Girl (1966).  Superb performances by all.  In the Academy Awards Lynn Redgrave was nominated for Best Actress and James Mason for Best Supporting Actor.  Also nominations for Best Cinematography – Black-and-White by Kenneth Higgins and Best Song by The Seekers.

It's an interest of mine when watching older movies to try and identify some of the filming locations.  At 1:35:00 in the movie there's a scene of Mason and Redgrave in the Paddington Borough on Maida Street.  It's interesting to see how it's changed since 56 years.  For instance, the tree trunk in front of the building on the corner of Edgware and Aberdeen has visibly gained in girth.   Most everything is as it was.

And Georgy Girl by The Seekers remains a 60's pop classic.

Thanks for the heads up @xylophone. I already downloaded this and was going to watch it today. I won't bother now.

Reading another person's opinion and deciding to not watch a movie is your choice but why would you not watch it and decide yourself? You may find the movie better than he did.

David Warner , British actor died recently- he was in many films and movies but an early one  somewhat iconoclastic was 'Morgan a Suitable Case For Treatment'.
I remember  seeing this as a teenager  in the 60s - it gave a first hint of an alternative to bourgeois orthodoxy- a hint of a rebellion and  counter culture. It also has Vanessa  Redgrave and Arthur  Mullard and other die hards from the English film industry  notably Ealing studios. I watched it again recently, as I watch everything on tinyzonetv.to

I saw this at the 'pictures' when it came out. By coincidence, just this minute, I have just submitted a 60s film called:  'Morgan A Suitable Case For  Treatment'

The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse (1938).  Personally, I think I enjoy the classic silverscreen movies the most.  Acting is superb, the scripts are unique and the dialogue is incomparable to contemporary movies.

  • Edward G. Robinson as Dr. Clitterhouse
  • Claire Trevor as Jo Keller
  • Humphrey Bogart as "Rocks" Valentine
  • Allen Jenkins as Okay
  • Donald Crisp as Police Inspector Lewis Lane
  • Gale Page as Nurse Randolph
  • Henry O'Neill as Judge
  • John Litel as Mr. Monroe, the prosecuting attorney
  • Thurston Hall as Grant
  • Maxie Rosenbloom as Butch

Interesting cast notes:

  • Ronald Reagan's voice can be heard as a radio announcer, a job that Reagan held before he started as a film actor.
  • Max "Slapsie Maxie" Rosenbloom was a boxer who converted his fame in the ring into a film career playing Runyonesque characters.
  • Susan Hayward had a part in the film, but her scenes were deleted.

Dr. Clitterhouse is a wealthy society physician in New York City who decides to research the medical aspects of the behavior of criminals directly by becoming one. He begins a series of daring jewel robberies, measuring his own blood pressure, temperature and pulse before, during and afterwards, but yearns for a larger sample for his study.

From one of his patients, Police Inspector Lewis Lane, he learns the name of the biggest fence in the city, Joe Keller. He goes to meet Keller to sell what he has stolen, only to find out that "Joe" is actually "Jo". The doctor impresses Jo and a gang of thieves headed by 'Rocks' Valentine with his exploits, so Jo invites him to join them, and he accepts.

Original film from the battle restored in HD

If you liked that film I'm sure you would love this one.  The actual footage, especially when colorised, is mesmerising to watch.  Often it seems to be present time.

They Shall Not Grow Old is a 2018 documentary film directed and produced by Peter Jackson. The film was created using original footage of the First World War from the Imperial War Museum's archives, most previously unseen, all over 100 years old by the time of release. Audio is from BBC and Imperial War Museum (IWM) interviews of British servicemen who fought in the conflict. Most of the footage has been colourised and transformed with modern production techniques, with the addition of sound effects and voice acting to be more evocative and feel closer to the soldiers' actual experiences.

watching 24 for second time....some entertaining tv

Watching for the 1st time ... ????  Since ran out of current stuff.

Just into first 4 Eps of S01, and guess it gets better as the seasons progress.  Good start, packing a lot into each eps., but not 8.4 rating .... yet.

I came across a movie I'd never heard of before, starring Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker, called "City of Lies" so I decided to download it.

Based on a true story and IMO it was good, although I don't think that the IMDb rating was particularly high.

Each season is up to 20GB with not that many seeds, so it's going to take a long time to download all seasons.

Yeah, sometimes happens to me when downloading old or hard to get media. There's not a lot you can do in these cases when using public tracker sites, except let it chug away in the background. Unless you have access to private tracker sites or the media is available on one of the many free streaming sites. Someone more knowledgeable than me may be able to provide better advice.

PBay had all, and I think <30gb, as I watched 9 eps of S01, and folder is 23.9gb left w/subtitles.

'For all mankind' is a drama about the space race. But it has a twist. It's predicated on an alternative  history in which the Russians land on the moon first. Other differences include Nixon remains in power, Lenton lives etc. Its quite a good show. It comes with a light woke  warning only.
