FYI there are now no ATMs inside or near PANTIP Plaza.

The last one which was near the car park entrance has beeb removed as of course have the Bangkok Bank Machines.

I belive the nearest one is outside the Mini BigC near to Suriwong Bookshop.

Gotta laugh - people retired, all the time in the world, can't travel to get what they want.

Fred Flintstone comes to mind ! 555

Remember seeing a krungsri ATM in front of mini BIg C. is that gone too?

After shutting at pantip, BKK bank has recently closed another branch on sri donchai next to maninarakorn hotel.

Pantip has lost a couple more coffee shops on the groundfloor & the dunkin donuts recently.

Sadly Panthip is a mere shadow of its former frenetic Aladdins bizarre self. The makeover/sterilisation of some years back (when was that?) ruined the place for me.

Big C is still there and for many in the area, like me, it is their main grocery shopping place!

The next closest supermarket is Rimping on the other side of the river.

Rimping over the iron bridge sells food within its expiry date

Use your bank phone app to scan and pay at the checkout.

Why?

My guess would be because you cannot find an ATM and have no cash?

I don't think my local Mom & Pop store do electronic transfers or Tuk Tuks or many other "non electronic/wired/smart/internet etc" places.

Cash is still required in many retail outlets/areas in Thailand.

PS;  My OP was only intended for Information to the general public who visit that area with an expectation of ATM facilities so that they would not be fustrated!

Almost anyone with a smart phone will accept or pay 'scan' payments.

My Bangkok Bank app certainly allows it, you can also pay using your bank app and their phone number..

Even my local market stalls accept it, Grab, Food Panda, Lex, etc.

Please see my OP!

Both the ATMs at the mini Big"C" and the bank just up the road from it are available as is the ATM at the 7/11 further west on the other side of the road (i.e. same side as Pantip)

I think you mean "Almost anyone with a smart phone will CAN but do NOT necessarily wish to accept or pay 'scan' payments.

Please see my earlier post where I pointed out why I made the OP.

I do not believe that this thread needs high jacking re the merits/demerits of payment methods!

Not jacking,

ATMs are disappearing all over the place because other payment methods are taking over.

Home Mall removed all their ATMs as well, middle of 2021.

I'm surprised you aren't still insisting on paying by cheque!
