Deputy commander of the Royal Thai Police Gen Roy Inkhaphairot sent in the Sa Kaeo provincial police after reports that a restaurant was selling alcohol contrary to the Covid-19 rules.

The "Rong Phak Aran" is just 200 meters from the Aranyaprathet police station.

Indeed the name Rong Phak means police station.

It appears that the local officers had not been aware that a large number of people were partying virtually within earshot of their premises contrary to the pandemic rules.

A force of 70 provincial officers found 86 patrons breaking the law.

The manager and staff were all arrested and led away.

Two women tested positive for drugs.

A photocopied sign outside said that no alcohol was served there and people were not to bring any booze in - or they could be fined.

Inside people were drinking out of paper cups and there was ample evidence in the trash cans that alcohol had been consumed, reported Daily News

In addition at the weekends bare chested hunks were pictured on stage encouraging the female clientele to get frisky.

All this activity seems to have somehow escaped the notice of the normally vigilant local constabulary.

ASEAN NOW suggests that the story may well lead to some transfers to inactive posts in the coming days.

Pending investigations, of course!

Do we really have to spell it out for you that a restaurant next to a police station has a different rules and regulation than just another place down the street? most likely the cops ore frequenting this place after work for "special price" food and drinks...

easy to figure out who could have covid - breath test them for alcohol - those just eating cannot possibly be infected :cheesy:

Is that a cop singing karaoke in the bottom photo ?

Don't ya just love the creative entrepreneurial spirit ????????????????

What a bunch of morons braking the rules. This is not funny at all.

Same in Pattaya, when the Bangkok police come into town, the local BIB have no control of protected establishments.  That's often when there's a bust on places that's been getting away with it all during COVID.  But it usually resumes back to normal afterwards.

Must feel good to other bar owners to see brief justice, who cannot afford protection themselves and normally observe the wealthy elite bar owners able to still profiteer over the last 2 years.

A really classy place, then
