Officials Probe ASF-Contaminated Pork Sausage from Thailand

NONTHABURI, Jan 13 (TNA) – The Department of International Trade Promotion has ordered the Thai commercial attaché in Taipei to investigate the report that Taiwan found Thai sweet pork sausage contaminated with the African swine fever (ASF).

 

Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, director-general of the department, said initial investigation found that the contaminated product had been delivered via postal service from Thailand and had not been exported by an established business operator.

 

He ordered the Thai commercial attaché in Taipei to follow up the issue closely. There had not been any report on any new Taiwanese measure on imports from Thailand, he said.

This issue is one of the reasons why ( as I believe ) Swine Flu is a notifiable disease, to prevent the Export of Live Animals and any product containing Pork from an infected Country.

Similar to Foot and Mouth in Cattle .

Oh dear. Another problem for Thailand.

And no word about the ASF outbreka from the AG minister and his deputy who oversee the department of livestock and other related agencies.

In the newspaper that can not be named was an excellent commentary about this topic. The ministry was given a ton of money for ASF measures yet the use of the money hasn't been clarified...
