Living in BKK, where to go a few days?

Featured Replies

Hi!

I am living in BKK and would love to read some recommendations to spend a few nights.

Some weeks ago I went to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai and really loved it.

I don't like too much the beach, nor the adventure (trekking, kayaking, etc)

What I am looking for:

- Eat. Take a Grab and go to different restaurants 2 or 3 times per day and eat arroy local food

- A quiet hotel with a balcony with a good view to seat, drink some beers, and smoke some cigs with my girl

- Would be a bonus if the place is located less than 3hs in taxi from BKK

- Another bonus would be to have 2 (or 3?) recommended places, not too far from each other to distribute 4-5 nights

What do you recommend?

Thanks!

kanchanaburi town, floating hotels. Many attractions within 30km for daily tours (motorbike, pickup).

You can get there, and further, to naam tok, by train. 2x per day

Khao Yai national park is good I thought spent a few days there last month enjoyed it.

Know you're not interested in beaches. But you can do pretty much everything you ask for above in Hua Hin (and adjoining Cha-Am)... Wife and I just came back from a 4 day trip there, and thoroughly enjoyed it as a get-away from BKK.

Great weather right now. Lots of very good farang eating and drinking places. Grab is readily available for local transport. Shopping as desired, etc etc. Plenty of hotels to choose from, and rates quite good right now.

You can easily take a taxi. But we took the VIP bus that runs daily between Suvarnabhumi and HH for a few hundred baht per person. About a 3 to 3.5 hour trip.
