jaiyenyen
Hi all I've been driving around Bangkok today, (well, stuck in traffic jams mainly) and i spotted a Ford Escort mk2 estate, and later, a Ford Cortina mk3. Both were in a slightly used condition Anyone else seen any unexpected cars? Regards Jaiyenyen

PeaceBlondie
I often see a 1966-era Ford Consul Corsair saloon in Chiang Mai that closely resembles the one I bought new (in Texas, with RHD). You'd earn 84 points if you spot an Armstrong-Siddeley Saphire or a Marcos.
billd766
Yesterday afternoon just off Sukhumvit 103 (Udom Suk) at the SriNakharin end I saw a just post war Fiat 500 Topolino in red with a full length sunroof.
Cuban
I saw one on these old Citroens in a glass case outside a resturant South of Khon Kaen (South bound), no time to stop for a picture last time I drove past. Looked like an old dusty moth in museum - not showroom condition.

dantilley
Quite a few old-style Beetles and old minis I've seen around. Most unexpected modern car is probably a Smart Car - didn't think they'd made it as far as Asia...
Sojourner
In Chiang Mai a Thai fellow owns a 1966 green Plymouth Baracuda, right hand drive. I see it parked at my condo quite often. Now that's gotta be rare.

undercover
In Chiang Mai a Thai fellow owns a 1966 green Plymouth Baracuda, right hand drive. //////////////////////////////// Very nice ! I love those car's. It amazes me how these cars seem to have been here for years, old Cortina mk1 Anglia 105E Citreon D series, and there all on the road, then you go to the garage and ask for a simple spare part for your modern Toyota and they tell you they haven't got it ? Exactly. Similar in Mexico. In Tapachula, the southernmost city in Mexico. there were working examples of a 1958 Vahuxhall Victor Super saloon, and an MG Magnette convertible (that's rare). And in Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan, an early 1950's DeSoto sedan! Speaking of Fireballs and Firedomes.....

billd766
Up on Sukhumvit 101/1 at the entrance to Soi 43 there is a Ferrari 348 ti and a Porsche Cayenne most days unless the owners are slumming when they use the Volvo XC 90.
keebone
i unexpectedly saw a car give way to pedestrians on a zebra crossing Fairly obviously a Farang who hadn't been in the country long enough to go Thai yet ! I see some photos of Pattaya in the early 70's and there were a number of Ford Cortina MK1's around back then. Never seen any around in Thailand myself but always had a soft spot for them. Big Guy
saw a mk2 consul in Phuket recently, in immaculate condition, seen a number of ford falcons, xa, xy, xw and several hq holdens in southern half of thailand over the last few years
samran
quite a few old holdens down south. Saw an old Kingswood in BKK about a month ago. If I had some spare cash, I'd like to buy one, do it up (parts from OZ are covered by the Thai Australian FTA), and just drive it around cutting in front of expensive mercs and and BMW's, just for the fun of it.
