I wonder if they'll accept foreign cards,

local debit cards are already a hit and miss in most retailers, only contactless credit cards seem to work reliably

Apparently foreign cards are acceptable. I've not looked into the detail as it's full fare only and I already have a discounted "Elder" card, but I understand there's a registration process. More detail will be along soon I'm sure.

For the MRT you just have to be 60, for the BTS you have to be 60 and Thai.

Any talk of when sky train will be included? and thai debit cards?

BTS are "working on it", lots of political and commercial issues it seems (technical is less of a problem).

As to debit cards, no idea, none of mine are actually contactless.

"7.  Users can use their EMV Contactless card to travel in the MRT system without registration".

That's from the Conditions Of Use in your link.

Well spotted Lou, evidently I was fed duff info from the original translation, and I've removed your earlier post with the giant font.

Thanks, couldn't get rid of that font after copy and pasting from the link

All my cards have contactless payment… including Thai ATM / bank cards & Thai Credit Cards.

I’ve never been able to use any of them for the ‘tap n go’ contactless payment (at 7-11 etc) - Thailand doesn’t seem set up for it yet.

Hopefully that will change - ‘tap n go’ is very convenient.

The lady at HomePro, Rangsit actually used the contactless feature of my Thai credit card instead of putting the card in the contact slot. Still had to sign (the bill was >16k Baht).

It seems that you can register your card but you don't actually have to, or something like that.

I might try it, just out of interest.
