webfact
Picture: Thai Rath An elder sister in Bangkok went on Thai social media to say that no one was taking responsibility for her younger sister's terrible accident on the BTS Sky Walk at Victory Monument. Priyapath Doungmak's sibling put her foot in a drain and suffered a broken right leg. Her left leg was also damaged. It happened in the busy area at the start of Wednesday's rush hour. The victim was currently awaiting surgery at Phayathai 2 Hospital nearby, reported Thai Rath. But attempts to find out who was responsible for the area of the accident proved fruitless. Everyone was passing the buck leaving Priyapath in despair about who to contact. The BTS authority said it was not their responsibility. Phayathai district told her it was Ratchathewi district's patch. Then Ratchathewi said, no, it was not them but the BTS who was responsible. This left netizens commenting in droves. Popular Post Thaiwrath
Will no one in Thailand take responsibility for my sister? In a word............................. "NO" "Up to you" as they say, sadly ! 19 1
Popular Post darksidedog
Were there a shred of decency at the hospital, they would be more concerned right now on operating on the leg, and worrying about who was going to pay the bill later. Utter disgrace that neither BTS, who you would think should be responsible, or the area districts can deny responsibility when clearly one of them is responsible for the station being safe. 11 1

Popular Post seajae
when your face is buried in your phone so you do not watch where you are walking it makes it hard to blame others for your own stupidity, everyone in Thaland knows that drains etc and some are often uncovered so they need to watch where they are going but of course looking at your phone is more important to many as was more than likely the case here and as the drain was covered it meant she was wearing high heals and should have been even more observant, the one responsible is herself, cant blame others for your own lack of observation Edited January 29, 2022 by seajae 5 1

Popular Post Karma80
After calling in CSI Bangkok and RTP finest, the drain has finally come forward and admitted assult on the poor girl. "I saw an opporunity to mug the girl as she was distracted sending line messages on her phone" Police will recreate the scene of the crime on Tuesday, and believe they have enough photographs to use more than one pointy stick in the presentation to media. The drain is expected to make amends by becoming a drain outside a temple for at least a week.
ikke1959
In fact easy question who is the owner of the skywalk??? The owner is responsible for the safety and mantainance of the skywalk..On the other hand as already in several posts.. She should pay attention were she was walking. steven100
she should know that in Thailand no-one takes responsibility for anything wrong, they are taught that from a young age. 2

"...clearly one of them is responsible for the station being safe". The accident happened on the walkway, not the station, didn't it? Danger is everywhere....and nowhere safe..examples more over this week The BMA is the owner of the Skywalk and is responsible for cleaning and maintenance of the Skywalk which most people use to cross to the various bus zones around Victory. The division between both districts is on the north side of Victory at the klong (Phaya Thai rd ends at the south end of Victory and Phahayothin rd begins on the north side). From memory, the division line between districts is the south side of the klong. If that is correct, then it will definately be in Ratchathewi district as 100% of the Skywalk is south of the klong. BMA paying regardless.

Agreed with that... tonray is clearly looking to victim blame.... the photo clearly shows that the drain cover has fallen into the drain... it would be easy for someone to roll their ankle in that. OK, so we also have to be extremely careful when walking around Thailand, due to the utter absence of any accountability there are uneven pavements, holes in drain cover, unstable paving bricks, exposed cables, exposed cabling ducting, boiling hot vats of oil from street vendors, soi dogs etc etc etc.... BUT... the fact that there are hazards and people ’should’ be paying more attention when walking around does not negate the fact that this incident occurred because the area was poorly maintained. The authority responsible for maintenance is clearly accountable for this incident - the BTS ? 2
