Thailand must keep its borders open, the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT) told Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha in a closed door meeting aimed at finding ways to stimulate the Thai economy.

“I said to him that the most important thing right now is how are we going to live with the virus and that we fully support the reopening up of the country and the resumption of the Test and Go program,” Stanley Kang, the president of the JFCCT told Thai Enquirer on Friday by phone.

“If we do not open the door, not only that people cannot come in, we cannot go out too and that is certainly not good for the economy,” he said.

Spoken at a "closed door meeting".

Is this a meeting to discuss the importation of walkie talkies ? You might think they can sit a bit closer around a table to discuss things without having to shout across the room.

Open door Bring the money back is my stimulating suggestion close door ????

Keep up the good work although they will never listen as it comes from a non-Thai ..... how sad!

But yeah, when arrogance meets ignorance the result is ...... Thailand, regretfully!

“On the visa side, he said that apart from retired foreigners, young foreign talents and startups are also looking to move to Thailand and the government should provide more incentives to encourage this group to move to the country as well.”

Well they just did! Pay around 1 million USD and you will get a work permit. Has this Foreign Chambers guy not been keeping up to date?

"Foreign chambers of commerce ask Prayut to keep the door open"    ????

I do the opposite! I always wish he would walk, close the door and throw away the key.

"resumption of the Test and Go program,”

but this program was already resumed on 1st February.

What he probably meant was going back to an original version, when only 1st day test was required.

For businessmen travelling to thailand entry for up to just 4 days should be good enough. Instead of

going to test at hotel, they go to the airport. An international business trip is usually short, those 2-3 days should be good enough.

For thai businessmen staying abroad as long as possible, travelling to different countries to finish all jobs in one go, might be a solution.

Why they are advocating Test & Go program, designed for tourism, is puzzling.
