Regardless, this unprovoked Russian war of aggression has brought about a change strategic policies policies throughout Europe and beyond.

Tge world digging in for the long haul against Russian aggression is not good news for Russia.

A policy of isolate and contain is going to present Russian citizens with a grim future.

What a home goal.

Its high time for the Russian people to be revolting, if they can possibly manage that.

No, I must be old school! I thought in a war for the survival of one's country , all able-bodied males joined the armed forces and fought for their nation.

If you just thought about it for a moment (you obviously haven't) you would realise that is actually impossible - unless you want various other parts of the country's institutions, infrastructure, etc to stop functioning.

During a war you still need people to perform all kinds of different functions - not just fight as soldiers.

Regardless you missed the point of the post.

It's ok for the west to prop up the the government administrations with 500 million a month.

The common people still need to earn unless your happy to see them on chicken and bread hand outs.

Having worked for a bulk grain handler handling 20 million tonnes a year, this solution by the EU will simply not work.

Notwithstanding the nonsense of one of our most shallow and obvious Putin shills, I have seen a marked increase in footage of the Ukr use of howitzers in the field in the last few days.

Where?

Meanwhile, do you think it would help if Putin stopped bombing Ukrainian fields, laying siege to the towns and trying to blockade the ports?

Yes i do.

How did you go with the pockets?

Specifically twitter for me.  I haven't seen much elsewhere.  Plenty of war footage, but the new howitzers only the last few days on twitter.

Don't you think the Russians would know where they are by now what with bloody great big Howitzer shells landing on their Orc heads!!  ????????

That is why mobile artillery is preferred by both sides.

There is a good article on this in the Economist:   https://www.economist.com/europe/2022/05/02/artillery-is-playing-a-vital-role-in-ukraine  Some key points are:

Ukraine has had the advantage in artillery counter-fire (using artillery to wipe out the enemies artillery) because it had better intelligence regarding Russian positions and because the Russians have left a great deal of its men and equipment bunched up on roads and river crossings.

The new NATO artillery is more powerful, more mobile, easier to repair, and superior in other ways.  As of May 2 the US had delivered 70 large howitzers and trained 200 Ukraine soldiers on their use.  As more guns are delivered and fielded, more soldiers trained and gain experience, and if the supply of shells and other support is maintained (logistics is essential) it will make a big difference.

Analysis: Neutral Switzerland leans closer to NATO in response to Russia

BERN, May 15 (Reuters) - Switzerland's fabled neutral status is about to face its biggest test in decades, with the defence ministry tilting closer to Western military powers in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Nothing "fabled" about there neutral status. They are just interested in looking after themselves and their banks. They have done nothing to help stop Ukraine being decimated by Russia. ☹️☹️

Agreed but that does not stop them changing as in the report.
