For a country that prides itself on having Buddhism as one of the three pillars of state, Thailand shows remarkable flexibility in its interpretation of that philosophy. One might almost be tempted to say that morality here is driven solely by selfish considerations, not the least of which is the god Mammon.

You did forget to tell that the 2nd and 3th pillars are Bathism.

Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, China....and Thailand.

Shame.

Each and everyone of them dictatorial in their 'governance' methods. Pariahs to the rest of the world.

So the leaders of Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, China, Venezuela,  Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, , and

Idi Amin of Uganda, are either in Hell now, or will reside there in the future. That is my opinion of these and a few other

people. Then the Thai leaders as dragging their feet in having an opinion of Russia. Wow, Amazing indeed.

Not really surprising during World War II the government here a lot of the Japanese to do whatever they wanted as long as the Japanese would not attack them also it’s all about money they don’t wanna do anything to upset China who really runs this place anyways TIT

While the obvious sentiment in this topic is that Thailand could have issued a forceful condemnation of the Russian actions, maybe their restraint was in deference to all the citizens of the two countries who are now short and long-term residing in Thailand and facing personal hardships just remaining in Thailand -- and to assume that ALL Russian citizen are supporting Putin is just silly.

Smart of him to say this.

A few more days until the Ukrainian army ceases to exist as a military body. Most of you guys here are clueless, living in the western media echo chamber. Brace yourselves for a big surprise.

Are you Russian ?

I cannot articulate my contempt for this man, but please, if you can, make a donation to the Ukrainian Red Cross. They are an accredited charity working with local organisations in Ukraine. They are in desperate need of medical and humanitarian supplies to help the Ukrainian victims of this atrocious war. Any amount you can afford will be both helpful and greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance for your kindness ???????????????????? ✌️✌️

Also the Russian people need to act now and remove this idiot from power before he starts throwing nukes around.

He has talked of re-establishing the 'glorius'* soviet union - we shoulda had sanctions then.

Cowardice and Selfishness in the extreme. The only 'situation' that might be made worse by Putin's chosen conflict/war, is Thailand's own. Must not upset the Russians for fear of loss of tourists, or those already here. The average Russian civilian cannot go anywhere anyway because back in Russia as sanctions bite they haven't the money. There is no 'natural path' in war, which has a direction solely chosen by the aggressor and where defenders either surrender or retaliate. The Ukrainian invasion could easily change the state of Europe for good (not sure if that will be true of the US and S. Americas) and if Thailand does not connect one way or the other, Thailand might be left further behind than it already is.

They need a coup, and since there is no royalty left in Russia it wouldn't even be Treason.
