The Cabinet has approved an air travel bubble between Thailand and India, government deputy spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek announced on Tuesday (Mar 1).

The move is seen as an important step in the post-pandemic recovery of Thailand’s beleaguered tourism industry.

The air travel bubble, which is expected to begin later this month, applies to commercial flights between the two countries.

As part of the agreement, Thai, Indian, Bhutanese and Nepalese nationals, as well as foreigners who have been granted visas for either Thailand or India will be able to travel between the countries.

That's great. If someone tells me, I'm in Thailand 'too long', maybe I'll spend a few weeks in India. Any recommendations? (I'm hearing good things about Goa.)

Massage girls will be happy and 7/11 stocking up on deodorant.

Less Westerners, more Indians... 7-Eleven re-stocking: less Heineken, more water.

More straws, to share the drink.

This will have little impact on tourism, until they show enough courage to entirely scrap any and all restrictions on travel, other than double vax, as most other nations are doing. After that, tourism has a chance to recover to perhaps 15% of what it was pre-covid, 5 years from now.

Stop the cowardice. Let the adults into the room, to make some decisions.

Indians will quickly baulk at the idea when they see the silly requirements… unlikely to be expedited for them. The kids will likely drop most of it soon though, but make it all look like it worked really well, pats on the back all round. PCR test before flight, let’s go. How hard can it be? Oh, I forgot about agendas.

Suothern area Kerala is worth a look.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I've lived in Bkk since 2013, and Indians are way higher spenders than most Westerners I've seen. Prejudices and stereotypes can be hard to overcome, of course; but when you see a chartered plane with 300 invitees fly from India for a destination big fat Indian wedding at Hua Hin and Phuket, you'll get some idea of what I'm talking about.

That said, there are bound to be cheap travellers, just as so many Western backpackers living on less than $ 15 a day in dorms on Khao San Road.

I'd say the north - i.e. places in Himachal Pradesh or Uttarakhand states, beautiful mountains with snow and valleys, lovely little guest houses, too; many were erstwhile so-called "hill stations" which the British created to escape the summer Indian heat. Stay away from the regular touristy cities, go to the smaller places.

Dear God, the thought of Indians taking up all the empty shops in Pattaya for Tailor shops. Going to be a Tailor Mecca interspersed with 7/11's in a year.

So I guess we'll start reading about such stories soon again.. Seems Indians were the victims very often..

If you like Thailand then there is a good chance you will like Goa.  Nice mix of people from all over the world and pretty much everything you can get in Thailand, apart from girls dancing around poles.  Locals are friendly and welcoming and not everyone will see you as a walking ATM.  You will see far more middle class Indians there these days and some seriously impressive houses.

Nepal is also a good place to visit with the Himalayas as a stunning backdrop.
