Sanook Thai Caption: The amulet saved me

Rescue services in Prakhonchai, Buriram, were called to the road by the old airport after reports that a driver was trapped in a submerged vehicle.

When they got there Nopparit, 48, - in a state of befuddlement - had already escaped.

He told how he had been to a nursery to get some shrubs but it was shut so he headed off.

Then his car - a Toyota Corona - developed some mechanical issue and starting wobbling uncontrollably.

This caused him to plunge into the klong. Rescue services couldn't see the car - it was totally under water and took 30 minutes to tow out, reported Sanook.

Nopparit said that as he entered the water he was soon submerged and calling out for his mummy.

He tried to elbow out one window and use his fist on the windshield to no avail. The electrics were all out so that was not an option.

Then he noticed that one window on the left was slightly ajar and some well aimed kicks smashed it.

He then eased himself out and swam to the bank.

In his opinion his miracle escape could be put down to the Luang Poo Sukh amulet from Wat Pho Sai Thong (B.E. 2500) around his neck and the Luang Poo Thuat one suspended in his car.

How long will it take till the insurance companies demands that you wear an amulet, I wonder ...

Hope the car was wearing a mask !!!....

But really, the car developed a mechanical issue - nothing to do with losing control at excessive speed then ??? hmm...

If the amulet is supposed to protect him, why did it let him drive off the road into the klong ? Only doing half the job

That's how religions work.

They thank their "gods" for the good things, but explain away the bad by blaming others.

"...calling out for his mummy".

That's not what the original report in Sanook said.   Sanook reported what he actually said, they didn't make up an infantile version of the quote in order to ridicule the man.

Just a simple reduced premium based on power and number of amulets, surely?

Read it, why don't you?    It sure didn't say that he was "calling out for his mummy".

I would suggest to ditch Amulet and pay tributes to his mother for her wishes which saved him...

In reality...his presence of mind and not panicking saved him.

Who's talking about reduced premium?

I don't know about making me more buoyant ... but I swear the amulet my darling gave to me makes me last a good 10 minutes more when we horizontally tango .... hahaha????
