As opposed to what?! ...  the numbers for the USA are horrific. It would seem to me its a heck of a lot safer in LOS than anywhere is the US (especially if you're black) and that includes factoring in the danger of travel on the roads here.

According to this (7-day average) US of A itself would be classed as a Level 4 country.

Or me a fit triple vaccinated healthy guy that caught it in January . Never felt so ill in all my life . Wouldn't wish it on anyone . 2 weeks of unbelievable headaches and joint pains etc . Oh for a common cold as you put it .

Yes, certainly is a strange one this, so much still not understood.

Very good friend of mine who has not taken a vaccine yet caught it over new year and only suffered extremely mild symptoms for a day.

Anutin must have gone monkey <deleted> over this good news ......

Best is really, that Americans stay at home; safe, no passport, no language issue and lots of burgers and sodas. Ladies of the night in Las Vegas, same same with gambling and if they run out of cash = food stamps!

Can it get any better, honestly?

Yet in the USA a thousand people die every day.  Sort of the Pot calling the Kettle black.

Considering how many people in the USA that still have not been vaccinated, it is also a

strange thing for the USA to send out such a warning. I will not venture to that country for another couple of years.

If you look at percentage of tourists compared to home country population—Americans are very much underrepresented in Thailand to begin with.  And not all that many American expats either, using the same standard.  CDC recommendations won’t affect us expats—but could damage Yankee tourism.

You obviously don't know how Thais feel about dark Thais, let alone Blacks.

There is nothing wrong with numbers out of the USA now.  Life is back to normal, more or less.

I take no pleasure in seeing Thailand punished, but alot of this is self inflicted. Thailand has not been able to even level the curve yet, while numbers all over the world are falling.

Is this at least partly due to the extreme lack of vision and the cheapskate mentality, that would compel them to pick the lowest efficacy vaccine on the planet, as their primary vax?

Or is it due to picking the lowest quality candidate available as health minister?

Or is it due to the highly selective shutdowns, which favored the cronies, and allowed the army bases, the canning plants, the factories, and the construction sites to become super spreader locations?

Whatever it is, it is not good. And with tourism on it's knees, the longer this goes on, the more Thailand is being forgotten. Quite possibly permanently.

Unfortunately most of the people have had their heads stuck in the sand for so long they have no idea wether they are coming or going. Oh well if you pump the numbers up there will be countries viewing from the outside and will adjust their regulations according to the BS that is constantly pushed in front of the masses

Seems more magnanimous than beating the dead humans (6 mil and counting, another 6000 yesterday), that Covid has killed, but that hasn't stopped either.

2 years and still 99.9% of the global population still going.

However lets see the toll resulting from neglected healthcare as a result of lockdowns and restrictions...oh hang on is anyone counting ?

COVID deaths and cases in the U.S. have come down from their recent peaks, but they're hardly doing well or even "normal."

U.S. far from normal with Covid deaths 10 times higher than seasonal respiratory viruses, report says

Two dozen scientists, doctors and public health experts, in a 136-page report, said Covid is still causing an “intolerable” level of death that’s far higher than other viruses such as the flu.

...

In years past, as many as 1,150 people died weekly from respiratory viruses like flu and RSV without the implementation emergency mitigation measures.

However, Covid’s death toll remains about 10 times higher with 12,000 people succumbing to the virus some weeks, according to the report.
