Absolutely!!! I do not give a flying F about covid, it is what garyk mentions above that I warn all my friends about. That is the risk; that is the danger. Not covid. Covid is nothing compared to the greed driven abuse by the authorities and their cronies. Anybody that comes here so long as these abuses continue is a fool and deserves everything he or she gets. 4
Popular Post JBChiangRai
I’m on holiday in Khao Lak and I had some stitches removed at Takua Pa government hospital yesterday, it’s a very small hospital, tiny in fact, they said they are getting more than 100 new Covid diagnoses a day, I think the real figure in thailand is >100,000 new cases/day perhaps more than double that.

Popular Post cardinalblue
Very few people on this board understand the purpose and the direction/information that the CDC provides….their recommendations are guidelines (not law) for businesses, companies, countries to develop and shape their own policies and programs…. I worked closely with the CDC in doing exactly that for our hospital operations…it is a well respected organization that’s no nonsense, science driven and some of the best medical minds in the world…very similar to NIOSH in structure…very impressive current director with impeccable credentials…. CDC is a recommending body only that the USA hospitals and healthcare systems respect and absolutely no reason to question their intentions or motives… if you don’t like what they say….good for you….then don’t follow their guidelines….just don’t show your ignorance and stupidity on their advice…take it or leave it….they don’t set policy or requirements….let the Thai gov do that for you…how much was that mandatory PCT test? How much for $20K insurance? Where do I pick up that sealed van? Where do i put the empty food trays? What, No refund on the 5th day hotel cancellation? If it walks like sheep, if it behaves like sheep…..you get the drift…you should re-analyze your misplaced anger…. Popular Post KanchanaburiGuy
No one EVER said the Vaccines were 100% effective. In fact, they've been pretty open about them NOT being 100% effective: 95%, 80%, 70%, 50%, depending. Haven't you been seeing numbers like this, all along? Well, here's a shocker: Almost no medicines are "100%" effective! That's why ibuprofen and paracetamol exist, despite aspirin being available. That's why there are multiple heart medications and diabetes medications and blood pressure medications and erection medications. Because what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. You see, as it turns out, THEIR chemistry has to combine and work with YOUR chemistry......... and they inconveniently don't have your particular unique chemistry to work with! So they are forced to work instead with averages and exemplars. 95% essentially means that 1 in 20 are still at risk, despite being vaccinated. 90% means 1 in 10. 80% means 1 in 5. Then Delta and Omicron came along and moved the goalposts! The reaction being presented here is like a gambler with a system for winning at blackjack. Suddenly, they think that because they have "a system"...... they shouldn't ever have to lose a hand, again! But that's not how it works! The "system" merely gives you an advantage over the long haul; one that you may or may not be able to take advantage of. Only a fool would think you suddenly never have to lose ANY hands! Vaccines are like that. They give a huge ADVANTAGE, but they don't... and can't... provide perfect outcomes. And no one ever claimed they do. All I can say is: Anyone who feels they must judge success or failure by a standard of perfection......... must lead a truly remarkable life! Cheers! Best is really, that Americans stay at home; safe, no passport, no language issue and lots of burgers and sodas. Ladies of the night in Las Vegas, same same with gambling and if they run out of cash = food stamps! Can it get any better, honestly? Stargeezr
Yet in the USA a thousand people die every day. Sort of the Pot calling the Kettle black. Considering how many people in the USA that still have not been vaccinated, it is also a strange thing for the USA to send out such a warning. Isaan sailor
If you look at percentage of tourists compared to home country population—Americans are very much underrepresented in Thailand to begin with. And not all that many American expats either, using the same standard. CDC recommendations won’t affect us expats—but could damage Yankee tourism. I will not venture to that country for another couple of years. Let's be fair, here, eh? The USA is a country with 330 million people. Racking up big "per day" numbers is consequently pretty easy. Ultimately, it would be better to compare the rate-per number: Rate-per-10,000 - - Rate-per-100,000 - - Rate-per-million. In the world, the USA is number 18, at about 2,950 Covid-19 deaths per million. (Worldometers) There are roughly 45 countries with rates higher than 2,000 per million. Now, I agree that the US putting Thailand on that list is somewhat misguided........ IF......... Thailand's numbers can be trusted. But it's NOT because the US's numbers are so horrible that they're being hypocritical! Edited March 9, 2022 by KanchanaburiGuy
spidermike007
I take no pleasure in seeing Thailand punished, but alot of this is self inflicted. Thailand has not been able to even level the curve yet, while numbers all over the world are falling. Is this at least partly due to the extreme lack of vision and the cheapskate mentality, that would compel them to pick the lowest efficacy vaccine on the planet, as their primary vax? Or is it due to picking the lowest quality candidate available as health minister? Or is it due to the highly selective shutdowns, which favored the cronies, and allowed the army bases, the canning plants, the factories, and the construction sites to become super spreader locations? Whatever it is, it is not good. And with tourism on it's knees, the longer this goes on, the more Thailand is being forgotten. Quite possibly permanently.
charmonman
Since, according to the article, the US is itself at level 4 by the CDC definition, why don’t they issue an advisory warning US citizens against remaining in the United States? 1

Barefootknobby
Unfortunately most of the people have had their heads stuck in the sand for so long they have no idea wether they are coming or going. TallGuyJohninBKK
COVID deaths and cases in the U.S. have come down from their recent peaks, but they're hardly doing well or even "normal." U.S. far from normal with Covid deaths 10 times higher than seasonal respiratory viruses, report says Two dozen scientists, doctors and public health experts, in a 136-page report, said Covid is still causing an “intolerable” level of death that’s far higher than other viruses such as the flu. ... In years past, as many as 1,150 people died weekly from respiratory viruses like flu and RSV without the implementation emergency mitigation measures. However, Covid’s death toll remains about 10 times higher with 12,000 people succumbing to the virus some weeks, according to the report.
