Finally-had to switch from Father/ Thai son to simply Retirement after 7 months. Got retirement in 3 weeks rom Buriram IO. 2000 B

Now looking to take my 12 year old on a Thai excursion around the country before school starts. His first time. Looking for edcational sites. Input please guys!

Kanchanaburi is a good spot to visit.  You can visit the railway to the River Kwai and see some history from WW2 around the area as well.  Ayutthaya is also worth the visit.  To the North the tea farms in Chiang Rai and then Chiang Mai has a few places worth seeing as well.

"Looking for educational sites. Input please guys!" ... which would be ?

History; early Thai or as already stated WW2, though doubtful on the latter

Nature; animal, flora

Science; astrology, water, dams/hydro, wind turbines, RR

Buddhism or Wat'd out already

More importantly, what's his interest, besides above, sports ?

Where have y'all been already ?  This self drive or public trans ?

Still got 2 months, so plenty of time for whatever.

drive along border to trat, ferry to koh chang and stay several days.

Get back and move along cost line every 2 nights to a new location.

Search googlemaps for "tourist attraction", "museum" and take all along your route on costal roads.

Take samet, larn and sichang islands.

Treat him to the national museum (even 2-3 visits with free guided tours) in bangkok, river and canal trip on public transport, science museum ekkamai, childrens discovery museum chatuchak.

Agree, visit any dam, farm, zoo, lake, ocean, etc and there's always something to teach/learn about those places.  He's 12 years old, all you have to do is teach the basics, it's not like he's a university student.
