Opposition politicians gaoled, TV stations and papers closed and free speech and demonstration rights taken away. Many of them in full support of the regime. They have ignored how Putin has manipulated the system to stay in power Many in belief that Putin will bring Russia back to its former glory days and pre eminence in world affairs not recognising those days are over for Russia. In GDP terms they would no longer qualify for the old G8 that they were evicted from. The Russians have become the frog in the pot. I do have sympathy for those Russians who know what Putin has become and are against the war in Ukraine and also those young Russian conscripts that are no match for the Ukrainians, many of which will go home in bodybags to be buried by their poor Mothers and loved ones, but those who have swallowed his tripe in some form of nationalistic fervour and are blinded to the truth do not deserve any sympathy should expect to suffer. Even so they will never suffer as much as the Ukrainians will, all caused by the leader many of them still blindly follow. I note a pro Putin rally by Russians in Malta, even after having access to all the information on both sides.
