Siam Rath reported on the resolution of a case that reached the ears of General Damrongsak Kittipraphat - the top cop in charge of ending street racing in Thailand.

Damrongsak was furious after seeing three young street racers on motorcycles racing and blocking an ambulance. Their antics hit social media.

The general sent in his minions from the police station at Phanna Nikhom in Sakon Nakhon to find the young tearaways.

Soon rounded up were Nanthawat, 16, Theeradech, 17, and Rattakorn, 15.

They appeared at the police station looking slightly less cool than on their souped up bikes.

They were dressed in silly hats!

All were charged with street racing, dangerous driving and blocking an ambulance.

Nanthawat was the ringleader, reported Siam Rath, saying that the gang had just got gas then went racing before hearing the siren, whereupon Nanthawat started laying flat on his seat and causing no end of trouble to the ambulance.

The police also got in on the photo-op, standing to proud attention by the confiscated bikes.

Their bikes should be confiscated for 6 months, required to work in A&E for weekends for 6 months, then further six months doing rubbish picks on the roadside.

They should introduce short term (1m, 3m, 9, etc.) hard labour terms for these idiots. Army could also step in to assist in enforcing the sentences.

After giving each one 30 minutes with a sledgehammer to trash their own bike.

The police should liquidate the bikes.

The "photo-op" would look MUCH better if the BiB were seen to be setting fire to the bikes!!!

I always prefer the steamroller approach. No recovery from that and somehow more viscerally satisfying.

I have to admit that finding a Thai  person to set a fire is much easier than one who can operate a steamroller safely without brake failure.

They are talking about chemical castration for sex offenders. Why not do it to idiots like these <deleted>. So they can't pass on their brain-dead gene's

I think that's an insult to the split pea.

Read a fascinating article on sentencing.

Two things (should) govern sentencing policy.......chance of being caught and the penalty when caught.

Little chance of being caught = severe penalties

Every chance of being caught = mild(er) penalties.

If these cherubs fall into the category of "little chance of being caught" and the "penalty is mild" they will never stop.

I'd agree if you multiplied by a factor for "odds of causing grievous harm", especially to innocent people.

Lay the bikes down and then run a steamroller over them while the turds standby and watch.  Then have them carry the flattened hulks home and make them hang them up in front of the house with a sign saying "This is the result of being ignorant and breaking the law"

Consequences?  Punishments?  They don't even stop the scrotes from wearing stupid hats to hide their identities!  This is the land of jumping jacks and push-ups, then back onto your unregistered bike with no licence or helmet, carrying four children, driving the wrong way at high speed.

You wouldn't want to make anyone feel bad...

They need to stop playing soft with them. 3 months in jail, Baht 5,000 fine and crush the bike. Subsequent times double the penalty of the first time. Chances are you would get very few going to a second time.
