It is if you are making the decision and just happen to own a few Rai in Phetchaburi

right you are, didn't consider that possibility...

Much of the prime spare land in Pattaya is owned by AWC who are the property arm of Chang. Plans have been announced for two hotels, a zoo and a Legoland to be built. Oh .... and a "convention" hall.

More than enough spare land in Pattaya for a dozen Vegas size super casinos and hotels.

Flatten Walking street and build something  new would be welcome.

Never mind this possibility of there being a patch of land in Phetchaburi "someone" owns and sees a big profit opportunity, think how many are now looking into how to set up Payday Loans companies!

I thought a certain VERY large hotel, just south of Jomtien and on the beach, was built by a certain member of a certain family with the intention it should  be a Casino, but daddy said no.

Daddy is now in a better place. I am surprised it has not been revamped and legalised before now.
But there is not much germane tourism at the moment.

Why does a new casino have to be built anywhere?  All that needs to be done is put it out to tender to four and five star hotels and

let the winning bid refurbish their existing space to incorporate a casino.   There are dozens of suitable hotels in Pattaya.

The vast majority of patrons would be Thais or, perhaps, other Asians.  I don't know any westerners who who would be enticed by the availability of casinos.  Thailand is much too far to travel if gambling is the objective.

Remind me how many years they've been speaking about casino's?

Remind me how much closer they are to actually having one?

I tend to disagree. A sports betting facility in the right location would be a big draw for Western tourists and expat residents as well as Asians. It could operate 24/7.

Yeah, as if the availability of land is the most important consideration when opening a casino...

Poipet. Zero footprint, shoved up right to the border.

Gambling.. always the hallmark of winning governments.

BS.... Chinese and Thai money laundering complex.

Disaster approaches, the casino in Auckland is full of Chinese and it is a horrible place that has done nothing for the people except create more crime and gambling problems, many Thais that live in Auckland have ruined their lives since it opened.

Now let's see which government minister or those connected to them/the elite currently resides in Phetchaburi and/or owns land there !!!

There would be plenty of Chinese visitor's to the Casino's whereever the put them in Thailand. Had a co-worker's son in US from Vegas went to Macau to help them run their  1st casino. Aslo know a Hi-so girl who ran a restaurant in the casino there.   Unfortunately they have been talking about this for 20 years and with this present anti-fun  gov that don't want drinking anywhere  and keep flip flopping on recreational Canabis I really can't see it happening.

If they did open a casino , let bars, Go-go's back open with long hours and freedom to have fun they would quicly get back to millions of tourists but not if everything closes early and you threaten peole with jail and fines for having fun or spraying water.

I would assume, the target group aren’t Thai.

More likely, they want to attract Chinese.

And similar to Singapore, they will place restrictions for locals.

Anyway, welcome to New-Sihanoukville! ????

May the floods of Chinese black money surge… ????

Same as Sihanoukville in Cambodia, did it bring wealth, employment and happiness to the locals....NO

The Chinese Mafia walk-in and take over the city.

Chinese entrepreneurs buy all the local businesses, shops, restaurants and the locals got priced out.

Now it's an extension of China.

For years it was said that the Ambassador was built with a casino gaming floor

Phetchaburi makes no sense but it could be a stalking horse, so that if people deride the idea then they will be happier with the alternative.

If you let the locals set it up, it will be Chinese run in minutes.

I actually hope they put it in Phuket and then we can forget about it and never go there.
