And to sell petrol, oil, repair & replacement parts, along with constant service; oil changes, turn ups, replace exhaust systems.   Maintaining ICE is a huge part of their profit margin.

 

Using a fuel the degrades every part of the vehicle it touches is just good business ... for them.

Replace exhaust systems, what is this, 1970? I have never had to replace a system, and the last time I had to change a muffler was in the early '80s.

And I would urge Japan to prioritise BEV's for sustainability and to fulfill customer demand.

I would caution Japan that customers want BEV's not ICE in any form and they are over-relying on legacy solutions with ridiculous numbers of moving parts and gross inefficiencies.  Thailand has already advanced past being a hub for ancient technology and has embraced the future and it's clear from increasing market share they made the correct decision.

 

I would further advise those in Japan to stop spreading disinformation regarding impractical new ICE engines, or mythical solid-state batteries, and other nonsensical information designed to do nothing more than slow BEV adoption by spreading fear or promising milk & honey in the future that clearly is a step back from the clear technological advantage and customer satisfaction of BEV's.

Japan’s automotive industry is a sinking ship. I would be extremely sceptical of anything they suggest.

 

ASEAN countries are “blessed” with good sunshine throughout the year. Governments should be subsidising solar systems and importing some of the energy produced back into the national grid to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. When you think about it, it makes very little sense to go through all the effort of drilling and extracting and transporting, refining etc etc and finally burning to produce the electricity we all need when we can just harness the “free” power of the sun to get the same.

It  would appear that the Thai Goverment has been listening closely to some wise words from the expat community of Don't put all your eggs in one basket

Is that a bZ4x?  If so, very few were sold in Thailand thru Dec 2023.   Then in Jan 2024 DLT  regristration stats shows 66 was registered for January (probably a wholesale transaction to clear stock in Thailand...maybe sold to a foreign buyer...or maybe transferred/registered to Toyota Sure to be sold as a used car)) and since Jan thru 30 Jun 2024 the DLT stats show "zero" regristrations.

In addition to the thousands of public EV chargers available in Thailand, BYD have over 100 dealerships that all have chargers.
 

You can see the status of the chargers and book them in advance through the BYD app.

Look at Bjorn Nyland’s channel if you want to know how long it takes to travel 1,000 km in various EVs. It’s always worthwhile to educate oneself.

Perhaps the buyer wants to not worry about recharging. Perhaps they want to actually get something for it if the sell it in 10 years time. Not everything is about speed. I warn you - sell your EV before the battery warranty expires. They are not meant to be driven beyond 10 years. This is not a durable Japanese product.
