Surprise surprise. Honda will also launch the e:N1 EV as an import model this March that you can buy. Till now it was only available with a lease.

The e:N1 import model is similar to the Chinese e:NS1, made by Dongfeng Honda. The car is based on the HRV platform. A few things why this Honda will not resonate with some buyers: it uses a NMC instead of LFP battery. And it's charging speed is not on par with peers - 78 kw. I expect the price to be between 1 - 1.1 M baht, based on the Chinese top model and with an uptick of 50% of an import model. Maybe they will ask more, because it is a Honda and not a Chinese brand.

Honda is a little bit late to the party. Can't see much market share or sales for it

According to car250.com Mazda will launch an EV in Thailand, the Mazda 6e. In China this car is known as the EZ6, however with a smaller standard range battery [68kwh]. The car is based on a previous iteration of the Changan Deepal L07. It is a sedan the size of a BYD Seal.

On the looks it is a very lovely car and has a bigger boot space than the Seal. But I'm afraid the price will not be competitive to the Seal with discount. Based on the Chinese EZ6 topmodel standard range [68kwh battery] and an uptick of 50% of an import model, I expect the Thai price to be around 1.3 M baht. This is the price of the Thai Deepal L07. A Seal Dynamic with discount is now 1 M baht.

You said it already. Based on a previous iteration of the Deepal so it's old technology already. Who, except hardcore Mazda fans, will buy it? Not to mention that in my opinion Mazda cars have always been overpriced

Spotted this car yesterday in Pattaya. Based on the logo behind the black tape sticker I'd say it's a Haval ? Any ideas?

Edit: I've done a Google lens search and it's obviously the new BYD Atto 2. I wasn't aware the BYD adjusted it's rear logo from build your dreams to just BYD hence I thought from the length of the sticker it could be Haval.

BYD dropped the "Build Your Dreams" badging maybe 18 months ago, shortly after they entered the UK. The UK market hated it and it got a lot of ridicule. Good on them for listening and for quickly dropping it. It has been "BYD" ever since.

BYD dropped it starting for 2024 models.  My 2023 Atto I bought new in late Oct 2023 still had the Build Your Dreams...and it hadn't been setting around for sale...it was fresh off the BYD boat from  China to Thailand.

So you don't think....I have a 82kWh battery, so can go about 540km therefore 40kWh will get me 270km approx. So instead of thinking 270km you think 40kWh?. Or am I thinking BS.

Yeah seems the right way of thinking.  The kWh is your Diesel. For 10L of Diesel or for 20kWh you can drive 100km.  Tiny cars might take a bit less, you will figure it out when you have yours and how it will perform with your driving style. Maybe you drive slowly, then you can do 100km with 12kWh or 7L of Diesel.

And solar on your house is just the next logic step. Because you want free Diesel.

EV’s ….. the Betamax of the twenty first century.

EV's ... No

The chemistry make up of the batteries, yes, will progress, better, smaller, lighter, charge faster, go further.

But does that mean, those having LFP batteries will be unusable, because all thing concern how used and or charged is different ... No again.

No vendors supplying electric is going to change the plugs types in use now.  They'll still be useable.  Maybe more options, maybe an adaptor, but not obsolete.

There's at least a 5-10 year window, before any new mass produced battery will take over the industry.
