I think that is only for Model Year 2023 (MY23) Seals that are still in stock vs the latest model year MY24/25.  BYD trying to clear out previous year models.

Model Year 2024 are just an extra 50,000 baht.

I'm guessing they have quite a lot of unsold inventory now.

Special price MY23

BYD SEAL Dynamic model (MY23) 949,900 baht

BYD SEAL Premium model (MY23) 1,049,000 baht

BYD SEAL AWD Performance model (MY23) 1,149,000 baht

Special price MY24

BYD SEAL Dynamic model (MY24) 999,900 baht

BYD SEAL Premium model (MY24) 1,099,000 baht

BYD SEAL AWD Performance model (MY24) 1,199,000 baht

What's the difference between the MY's 23 & 24?

As far as I can tell there is no difference...just a different import batch I think.

Even at 299k I wouldn't touch Neta with a bargepole.

On facebook they posted screenshots of second hand Neta V in china, all sell around 60 - 80 kBaht. So there is still a lot of room for discounted netas. 300k for a car  without warranty, spare parts and service points but with a history of failures in all components ...  not sure how many they will sell at this price

I’m in the process of buying a BYD sealion 6, so a PHEV.

As part of the deal I am being given a free home charger and installation. BUT, the BYD guy says I need a special cable to run from my fuse box to my charger and for a special stand for the charger to fix to. The latter because it won’t be fixed to a wall.

So:

1. having googled, it seems that I DO need a special cable to handle the continuous power load. Fair enough. But does anyone know if the BYD people supply said cable at a significant mark up? Or is their pricing pretty competitive?

2. Does anyone know if their special stand is anything, well, special? I haven’t seen one in real life but from the picture it looks like plastic!

3. Just generally, do BYD use the charger installation exercise as a price gouging opportunity?

Grateful for any insights on the above

I got a free BYD Charger and installation when I purchased my Seal in 2023. BYD came and did a site survey and they provided a cable, from memory I think the first 10m was free.  I did ask how much per m for longer and I remember thinking it sounded reasonable. As for what they quoted me, that I don't remember.

Question 3 "do BYD use the charger installation exercise as a price gouging opportunity?" - I don't think so, I think they are just covering their costs

Based on my experience in the BYD wall charger installation (done by ENSUS which had the BYD contract) I didn't see any price gouging...pricing seemed fair on the invoice which was free for me as it came with my BYD Atto....but they did tell me in advance if I need extra wire beyond the free 15 meters worth (i.e., from main circuit panel to charger)  that it would cost X-amount per meter...my install didn't end-up requiring any extra wire beyond the free 15 meters.   And all wire remained within/on  walls/ceiling; no underground wire.

Now since it sounds like part of your cable run might be underground to your charger on a stand then that means it will probably have to be "NYY-G" wire which is typically what required for underground wire....it's more expensive than wire used within buildings/not buried.     NYY wire insulation is much more resistance to water and chemicals in the ground than regular wire used "within" buildings/walls/ceilings.

From your main circuit panel to a 32A/7KW charger the required wire size in 10mm2.    Nothing really special about the stand...it's like the stand in Bandersnatch picture, but it wouldn't surprise me if the installer is not also talking about an enclosure box to go on the stand for added security and environmental protection.

Now if the outdoor wire is staying above ground the installer might be talking "THWN" wire which is often used as "service drops" from the power lines down to the electric meter....it's tough wire...withstands rain, shine, bad weather, etc.

The installer should be able to easily/quickly give you an estimated price of "parts and labor"....and give you more "specifics" on the "wire type" he's talking about.

I'm assuming in the middle of the chart that the 2,013  registration is for Jan 2024 reflecting end of 2023 sales/promotions finally getting registered in Jan 2024.   If correct it appears starting in early 2024 Neta fortunes turned south quickly with only 216 registrations in Feb 2024.

Made "some" recovery thru 2024 but really didn't approach the much better sales year of 2023 with registrations only reaching 985 in Jan 2025 from end of 2024 sales/promotions.

And then registrations fell to 288 in Feb 2025 and are trending downwards since a lot of bad news about Neta's financial problems started hitting the Chinese and Thai media.

When I see a Neta on the road now I feel kinda sorry for the owner as the owner is surely worried if his/her Neta is going to lose support and more value in the near future.  Based on what I reading in newspapers quite a few Neta owners have their vehicles in a shop awaiting parts/repair/warranty support that may or may not come any time soon although Neta is saying it's new Parts Distribution Center in Nakhon Pathom will help the situation.

Below 9 June 2025 Bangkok Post news article gives a good summary of Neta and its owners current situation along with the overall EV industry/market in Thailand.

Fortunately I won’t be going underground. I managed to find a wall to which I can fix the charger and then if I use a 10 charging cable, I can reach where the car will be parked.

The bad news is that I’ve got about 100 meters to go from the fuse box in the house, around the garden wall, to the fixing point.

A guy from BYD came and gabbled on about this and that, not a lot of which made sense to me, but he is going to arrange for the actual installer to come today.  so I’ll see what they say, although I have a feeling it will be a Thai and sign language conversation.

It’s never a problem if I have some confidence that they won’t be trying to make things more complicated than they need be, just so they can charge more money. Of course I have no comparative quite atm, so I’m nervous.

For instance the BYD guy was heavily pushing for me to take a sleek waterproof box for the charger, which cost three times what a “normal” box cost. Since I’m not intending to make the box a focal point of the garden, it seemed unnecessary to me.

Anyway, thanks for the info and ‘ll see what they guy says today.

I have my wall charger directly from a TOU meter ( 2nd meter purely for EV ) .

The BYD “ free “ installation in my case was 9k , with 15 m cable free and an additional 300 baht per metre ( for 16mm2 cable ).

Coming from your consumer unit i believe you will have the same 15 m free cable and an additional 200 baht per metre ( for 10mm2 cable ).

Was wondering if anyone owns or has loo0ked at the XPENG G6. A friend has recently bought one, I sat in it earlier today and the seats were surprisingly comfortable and its quite roomy. I think that he said it has a 6-year warranty, with 8-years on the battery . 1.6MB I think.

Any comments please.

Unless you're wealthy, paying more than 600kbht for a vehicle is foolish.

Get a new Neta V for 426kbht, then you can afford another 3 before you pass the xpeng.

Ps something as unusual as the xpeng will not have any spares, and when that little $25 module fails, the car will be toast. Neta is very popular now, but no spares, and half already suffered Aircon failure.

I know your daughter (I think) has just bought a Neta... But seriously...  this is one of the most horrific cars out there.

Personal opinion of course, but as you gave yours... here is mine - purely for the interest of discussion....

We recently borrowed at Neta as a loaner for a couple of days...  its safer than a motorcycle, as they have seatbelts, AC and protect you from the rain...  thats the only good thing I have to stay about it !!!..

If you are 'pottering around a village' never going more than 50kmh - then fair enough, never travelling far, never travelling at speed, never being on a road amongst larger cars, trucks, pickups, busses etc... then sure - its a 'get around' vehicle (in much the same manner I use my scooter on local roads)...

BUT... if hitting highways, tollways, and travelling at speed...   then money is NOT the only factor - safety is.

Someone would be far better off getting a second hand something more substantial than a new Neta...

Heck... I'm even with KhunLA on this one - If someone wants a new EV... then the bottom of the pile of something acceptable is surely the MG EV...    Netas are 'tin cans on wheels'...    lethal things IMO, unless used only like a local scooter....

You know wrong,

She bought a new Toyota Vios for 550kbht on zero interest, 5 year credit.

I have a 28 year old Nissan bigM pickup, although I rarely drive these days

Happy to cycle rural roads on my eMTB.

My mistake - for some reason I thought one of you (your family) has just bought a Neta...

And the Vios - IMO a far better choice than a Neta...

That Nissan Pickup is now a museum piece - must be well looked after, it'll be going up in value soon !!!

.... Do you drive it in the outside (right most lane) on highways at 40kmh, for 5kms before the U-Turn you need to take ???? (sorry, couldn't resist - seems I see most old pickups doing this !).

Well, since you estimate around a 100 meters wire run will be needed the installer is probably going to quote you an additional price for 90 meters of wire.   The "current" BYD free charger installation promotion includes 10 meters of installation wire (it use to be 15 free meters when they installed my charger back in later 2023)....any thing above that 10 meters you pay for.

Unless something has changed the cost "per additional meter is around Bt300 which includes the wire (which is actually 3 wires...Line, Neutral, and Earth), conduit, misc stuff, and labor."  90 times Bt300 comes to Bt27,000.   But that Bt300/meter price is probably  based in not having to install a long length past the 10 free meters.  Example: a residence needed 15 meters to accomplish the install....10 meters is free and the additional 5 meters costs Bt1500 (5 times 300).   I would hope in your case it would not be Bt300/meter if the wire run is not labor and conduit install intensive...hopefully a much lower amount per meter.

Thailand, which generally has the moral backbone of a jellyfish, hasn’t really reacted to Elon’s Trump/DOGE antics.

Most other countries are avoiding teSSla’s and those customers that don’t are facing criticism and ridicule by other motorists.

I bought something a bit special once and when taking my wife out to dinner in it, a pedestrian gave us a Nazi salute.  Ridiculous really when you consider it was a British car, but I had the devil of a job getting my wife to go in after that.
