INN reported that a family of four who have been missing from their home in Sukhothai are safe.

The grandfather and eldest daughter had been unable to make contact with Nirut's family after they left Thung Saliam in Thailand's north.

Nirat had said he was taking them on a Songkran trip but refused to tell his father exactly where.

Pol Col Sayan Janjemkrajang of the Ban Rai police said that the disappearance is connected to an investment scheme involving many people. He declined to give further details.

He said that the wife, called Nareumol, had sold the pick-up that the family left in in a gas station in Phitsanuloke after it was avertised for sale with second hand dealers. CCTV proves that, he said.

The vehicle was then passed onto other people in Lopburi and Bangkok.

Earlier it was reported that the family were the father and children aged 12 and 7.

More about this as we hear of it.

Sounds like they want to get away from the family home and just support themselves in another area.

Er, doesn't sound that it was just that!...

"Ban Rai police said that the disappearance is connected to an investment scheme involving many people".

And their phone numbers had been cancelled and were out of service.

Family borrowing money where only one is left to pay the sharks, others cannot pay back, time to leave, have known it to happen and probably a common thing these days.

So far there have been no reports of the involvement of loan sharks in this case but there have been specific mentions of an "investment scheme" that, clearly, didn't go as planned.

Sounds either a very successful investment (for them) scheme or a very bad one! Take your pick.

Or someone in the family ran a scheme, and the ones not involved or knowing are catching some blame and want to be clear of it.

I imagine one of 3 things,

a; took the money an ran,

b; running from the Mafi,

c; Caught by the Mafi fate yet undetermined.

???? ????

Phitsanulok is large and the father and mother can find work.

Depending on the success of the 'investment scheme involving many people', they may not need to work anymore. Home-schooling their kids, they could just 'disappear' till caught by accident.

Yup, borrowing money from loan sharks then online gambling.

Been rife for the last 5 years.

At first I thought they were the initiators of the investment scheme, but your explanation makes sense too.

Perhaps the ponzi scheme they hatched up also played a small part.

My guess = Pyramid Scheme, why do they have to run? possibly some angry investors at the bottom when it collapsed, just a guess.
