Very Funny at the Bufffet Breakfast.

At the buffet breakfast, I took my mask off as I walked in the door, then when I was ready to sit down, A waitress pointed to her mouth and said "mask" she produced a mask and handed it to me, I pulled my own mask from my pocket and said "is it ok if I take it off when I am eating?" She just looked at me in embarrassment.

Same happened to me if your not eating wear the masking means sitting down , getting food

Was the same in England - your mask had to be worn whilst not seated e.g. entering/exiting, even if you were going to the toilet.

However, that all stopped what seems years ago - over a year anyway ????

They'll catch up soon

I would say about half of the people getting their food did not wear a mask. they were certainly not sitting down.

There will always be people who want to dictate to others, human nature.

I wear a mask out of politeness, although having had 3 vaccinations plus a brief bout of COVID, it is probably completely unnecessary.

If other people choose not to wear a mask, it's none of my business, and I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist about it.

The staff at my building would rather not struggle daily with  foreigners that refuse to mask at the buffet for no other reason than to be rebellious. But it's Thai Law, then comes down from their boss, and not their decision. They put up signs and ask nicely, but the high and mighty foreigners ignore and treat them as inferiors. They said at other buffets the cancel-culture buttinsky type foreigners have taken photos of people at the buffet with no mask and reported to authorities. Three strikes and the restaurant closes for two weeks, meaning no pay for the staff for two weeks. But it's good you put that staff member in her place, it's not like she deserves to actually be treated with respect in her own country by a foreigner. Pat yourself on the back for that one.

To avoid COVID at a buffet, you'd need every person to wear fresh rubber gloves each time they served themselves. Complete nonsense to insist on masks at such a venue IMHO. And I seriously doubt anyone in the kitchen is masked.

If you're concerned about COVID, attending a buffet would be completely out of the question. Stay at home alone.

I agree. But those decisions are not left up to the staff working the buffet. They are only doing what they are directed to do by their boss. Taking your frustrations out on them is useless and disrespectful.

Until you go down with another bout of covid, caught from one of these no-maskers.

The vaccinations are only to make the symptoms less severe for YOU if you do catch it. You can still pass it on to others.

My woman tested positive last month, I was sleeping with her the whole time and still didn't catch it. No mask, condom or anything else between us.

Guess I'm just lucky!

Yeh, but she's unlikely to pass it to you if you keep insisting she wears this all the time ....... ????

I wonder if the OP would have acted  differently if it wasn't a little  Thai girl asking  him to follow  the rules- if it was a big Thai guy his attitude  would be  different  I bet.

Yes, I guess you showed her; how proud you must be.

I have heard it said that a good way to observe a person's true character, is to observe how they treat wait staff when out at a restaurant.

From what I've observed at the mall or in 7-11, etc., pretty much everyone cooperates and wears a mask. But then at a buffet the rebellion sets in for some reason. Why is that?
