A well known Thai YouTuber with the name "Bird Wan Wang Wang" has been charged by the police in Khutao, Songkhla, with impersonating and making fun of the RTP.

Bird - real name Theerawat Srirort - has more than 300,000 subscribers.

He appeared dressed as a cop at a motor racing event at the Songkhla Speedway in Hat Yai on May 15th.

He flew from Bangkok with two friends yesterday to face the music.

He said he was only having fun and didn't think he was breaking the law, reorted Thai Rath

The police thought differently and charged him with impersonating an officer, using insignia without permission and causing police to lose face.

The cops reminded the public that permission needs to be sought to dress like a cop at a show such as this.

Bird said he bought the uniform a couple of years ago and had worn it once before.

He'll be more careful in future, he said, warning others to watch out.

He was released and will appear in court later after charges were filed with the prosecutor.

It seems to me the RTP manages to do a good job of losing face themselves...

there are stores that sell police and army gear.    I walk around all day looking like a 5-star general.   cost me 14,000 baht, and now I'm going to be arrested????

As @worgeordiesays, they do that well enough themselves and this is a ridiculous situation!

Does anyone remember Spitting Image? Goodness me, how would that go down here!?

I think a stern warning would have been sufficient.  Not like he was stopping scooters roadside and robbing / citing them & getting paid.

Aww, just pick it up, it's at the usual place.

The RTP need a deep and stron reform as they show everytime they are not capable of doing their jobs...

Zero sense of humour these blokes. Bet the prank weren’t funny either, probably accompanied by silly noises and canned laughter. A joke.

If making cops lose face is a crime, shouldn't they all be in jail?

Ha ha... another idiot going too far for a few likes.

Reminds me of the American who "allegedly" had an aircraft engine stall over the Sierra Nevada mountains..

wearing a parachute he bailed out and Go-Pro'd himself throughout the whole event.

NTSB and others are now having an interesting chat with him.

I believe the crash site is also a national park so the clean up bill and other charges could follow if found guilty of staging the crash.

He was lucky that he wasn't handcuffed and the whipped like the 3 guys in NP.

The police lose face every day in their neanderthal approach to policing through practices and laws that aren't fit for purpose in the 21st century.

They are the impersonators of law and order.

What fragile little egos they have. Not having a link to the vid to know if funny or not, but it should be played to the 'Judge' and see if he can keep straight face, and also in an open court and jury. It sounds like it was openly humorous, not trying to extort money etc from "impersonating'' a cop.

Well in  Eastern Canada, a guy used a police uniform, and fake police car to kill a lot of people.

I am with the RTP charging anyone who does this kind of stunt.

The police thought differently and charged him with impersonating an officer, using insignia without permission and causing police to lose face.

Good job they don't read these pages ???? Or do they ?? ????
