At least 4 dead, multiple people injured in shooting at Tulsa, Oklahoma, medical building: Police

At least four people are dead and multiple people are injured following a shooting at the Natalie Building at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Wednesday evening, according to police.

 

Dispatchers received a 911 call shortly before 5 p.m. local time about a man walking with a rifle at the Natalie Building, a physicians' office building on the Saint Francis Hospital campus. When police responded, they said it turned into an active shooter situation, according to Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Meulenberg.

 

When police entered the building, they found multiple people shot in one area on the second floor, including in an orthopedic office, authorities said. The victims could be a combination both of employees and visitors, authorities initially said.

The shooter, Michael Louis, who police also found dead, shot and killed Dr. Preston Phillips, Dr. Stephanie Husen, Amanda Green and William Love in a medical building on the campus of Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Franklin said.

 

Louis had back surgery on May 19, performed by Phillips, and subsequently called several times over several days complaining of pain and wanting additional treatment, according to Franklin.

It is very disheartening. Nothing is being done about the killings. The dems are cowed by the progressives, and the Republicans lack any sort of moral compass, and are owned by the NRA, and the regressive one, and are stuck in an 18th century mindset. We deserve our guns! We need our guns! You can't take away our guns! Nothing wrong with having a few guns in the house. But, there is something very, very wrong, when an insane 18 year old can easily buy assault rifles and 350 rounds of ammunition and walk right into a school and take out more people than have been mass murdered in many nations combined for decades, in one day, such as happened in Texas. And now this. And there is something infinitely more wrong with America when nobody has to guts to do anything about it. 

 

The US is a very sick, demented, twisted, confused, and morally bankrupt culture. It is a nation in rapid decline. It is not even a pale shadow of what it used to be. I am infinitely disappointed in country. They could do so much better. 
 

According to the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit that tracks shootings in the US, there have been 214 mass shootings in 2022 alone. And that was a few weeks ago. Another 15 or so since then! 

The United States has far more lax firearm laws and policies compared to other countries — the federal right to own a firearm is even baked into the United States' constitution via the Second Amendment.

What can one say? Every time I go back to visit, I barely recognize the place anymore. America has been on the decline for decades now. Not in terms of GDP, but by nearly every other measurement or standard. And now, the cost of living is soaring out of control. A very low quality of life, and way too many unhinged maniacs, and far too few politicians with any sort of moral conviction. Most are bought and paid for by toxic lobbyists. The US is nearly as corrupt as Thailand. The difference there, is the corruption is legal and encouraged. And lawyers and politicians are part of it.

It's more than just guns which America has a over supply of, it's also about the mentality of the shooter, Red flags. Too many nut cases in America? Many moons ago I went deer hunting in Michigan and was told to wear yellow, red or orange colors and I did but so many were wearing camouflaged jackets to look cool and a few were shot that season. Teaching must start at a early age as it is never to late.

This guy BOUGHT THE WEAPON as he was ON HIS WAY TO THE HOSPITAL! Perhaps if there had been something as simple as a few day waiting period to buy such a military grade weapon, then this massacre may never have happened.

I bought a handgun last year and had to wait over 2 weeks for back ground check to clear.

The problem is America has a HUGE number of gun nuts who have warped the 2nd amendment in their minds. They always overlook that initial part where it clearly states "A well regulated Militia . . ." and instead think ANY citizen should be able to buy a military-grade weapon without any regulation.

 

You are correct, people tend to paint all Americans with the same ugly brush. Any more, if someone asks me where I'm from, I tell them "Canada."

The difference between America and the rest of the civilised world is that mentally disturbed people in the rest of the world cannot legally go into a store and buy a high powered semi automatic rifle along with hundreds of bullets.  

 

Do you think that America is the only country that has people with mental health issues?   Mental health is not a problem unique to America, but the fact that these people can buy guns to slaughter little kids en masse is a problem unique to America.   Everyone on the outside can see this, which is why America gets ridiculed about it.   I've spent a fair amount of time in Texas for work over the years and the people there are undoubtedly fantastic people, but when it came to the subject of guns they always reminded me of that character called Gollum from Lord of the Rings who was constantly scared someone was going to take his "precious" away.

How much does an AR-15 cost?

I listened to Biden's speech today when he said enough , enough . However he then went on to state a compromise in banning automatic and semi automatic rifles , which still leaves a multitude of weapons to be bought . Then he proposed a raising of the age of gun buyers from 18 to 21 ( I thought that 25 would be more effective ) . However there was a sensible comment when he said that gun shop owners should not have immunity from prosecution . A member of the public was interviewed and she said that nothing will change with the gun laws because any amendment would be blocked by the republican controlled senate . A recent US poll showed a near 50/50 split on gun law revision . Law enforcement must be a nightmare in the U.S.A. Who would want to be a cop in the U.S. with so many uncontrolled guns around . The U.S.A. are the leaders of the free world and should be setting an example but at the moment they are looking like a country of idiots run by an idiotic political system that will not provide a safe place to live

What people are saying and have been saying in every ‘gun related thread’ is that the USA has a disproportionate amount of mass murders, gun deaths, school shootings per-capita than any other developed nation.

Not in general - there is a lot to like about the USA...

Gun crime and the ease with which guns are accessed is a major facet which lets it down, those from many other nations not only ridicule the stupidity of the USA authorities for this, but also the people who support this... and rightly so.

No one is making that assumption... there are plenty of people in the USA who are against guns and recognise the greater issue.
